A visit at the Zoo

I might already showed you some of these pictures in one of my older articles but today i took a look on pictures i did back in 2017 and found these pictures of my visit at the zoo in Schmieding, Upper Austria. In 2017 i went there several times for animalphotography and i found it intersting to take pictures of animals like a tiger, a parrot, flamingos and other exotic animals. Since i am more into wildlife photography now, taking pictuers at a zoo it not that exciting for me anymore. Of course you can get real nice close up pictures of wild animals that you wouldn't have shoot in wildlife because some of these animals would eat you for breackfast if you get that close.

But the hunting like experience in wildlife photography gives me a little more thrill than taking pictures at the zoo where the animals can't escape. Back then in 2017 i visited several zoos for taking pictures of different animals and i agree that zoos have a right to exist to protect certain species, but i still like to see them in wildlife.

I waited several hours at the different cages to get some nice shots of all of them. Back in this time i just received my Sigma 150-600mm lens wich is still my favorite lens for animal and wildlifephotography, and i really had to test it on several occaitions and one of these occations was the Zoo visit. I had luck with the light and i was amazed how close i can get to the animals.

if your pictures aren't good enough
you're not close enough.

This senctense just felt so right to me this time, and with the help of this 600mm i really could get pretty close.

This amazing 600mm have changed my life and the way i look at some pictures of wildlife i do today. It is so much easier to get amazing shots with this lens than with the 55-300mm lens i used before. This extra 300mm are bringing you so much closer to the subject that you can really feel it breathing out of the picture.
