Why Do People Fear Anarchy?, Liberty is not Chaos

in #anarchy6 years ago (edited)

Today it is not uncommon to find people who are afraid of Anarchy, of the fact that there is no government and everyone is on their own in a "chaotic" society, but it is worth looking at why there are people who repudiate the term "Anarchy", today we will talk about it.

The term "Anarchy" is tremendously bastardized by statists and the "news" media, each one carrying a totally erroneous message of what Anarchy means, making one think that it means "No Rules", when it really means "No Rulers", this is a big difference that is ovbied thanks to propaganda and ignorance, since children teach us to obey and respect authority, regardless of what they do, good or bad. This thought inculcated from childhood, added to the day to day living in a society where politicians are idolized as rock stars to the point of almost giving them the role of a "Semi-God", the constant propaganda that it is the state alone with the ability to maintain balance and peace, thanks to the monopoly of the Force.

There is also a false definition of the word "government", it is said that the word "government" is simply the structural form that a society takes and the system of organization that groups of people establish for themselves. This is a "trick", as it implies that the structure and organization will cease to exist in the absence of institutionalized violence and central planners. Since all governments share the common characteristic of establishing and promoting institutionalized violence. That is, when the organization and structure is peaceful, it would not be a government. It is true that there are different types of anarchists, some radical "anarchists", mainly from the left, are violent and fuel this idea, and they undoubtedly do a bad favor to all those people who consider that a voluntary society without a government is ideal.

"If you obey there will be peace and prosperity, if you do not obey there will be destruction and misery", freedom is not synonymous with chaos, anarchy is not synonymous with chaos, anarchy is looking for those licensed thieves who drive a country and who think they know how to live your life better than you yourself can use the "law" to repress you for being a dissident or for not wanting to be robbed, in the case of taxes. There was once a time where small groups of people could own the lives of millions by claimingto be given that right by a supernatural being, but those days have come to an end. Maybe people may fear the personal responsibility as well. Currently under our "democratic" system where 51% can override the ideas of the remaining 49%, if you fail you can reasonably blame the state for the conditions of failure. Once the state is removed, there is no scapegoat so your life is purely your own responsibility.

In other words, without government, you won't have a parent who tells you what to do or what you can't do, it's the fear of being independent and living your life peacefully, thinking about your personal affairs and being free. It is the custom to have in power a gang of inepts who cause problems, limit your freedoms and rob you to finance stupid, unnecessary or immoral things, then, every so often when it is time to vote at the end what they want is to choose at least worse. But they cannot imagine living without it, without a "leader", it is regrettable because it is the product of the disinformation and "upbringing" that the government itself is in charge of making people think "It's crazy!"

In the case of Anarcho-Capitalists, these erroneous definitions of the term anarchy are very annoying, we want a voluntary society where economic and individual freedom is absolute, under The Non-Agression Principle, quite the opposite of chaos or violence. Murray Rothbard once said: what is the State anyway but organised banditry? What is taxation but theft on a gigantic, unchecked, scale? What is war but mass murder on a scale impossible by private police forces? What is conscription but mass enslavement? Can anyone envision a private police force getting away with a tiny fraction of what States get away with, and do habitually, year after year, century after century?"

"There’s a joke that’s been going around over the past few years: what’s the difference between a minarchist and an anarchist? Answer: six months. If you value principle, consistency, and justice, and oppose violence, parasitism, and monopoly, it may not take you even that long. Start reading, and see where these ideas take you." Source

Thanks to ignorance, misinformation and some violents, people have a very misconception of the term Anarchy. Politicians are no doubt pleased that many believe that civilisation cannot be achieved without a "Master" to guide the flock. People have to consider taking charge of their own lives, the best leaders they can have are themselves, not a politician... If Voluntarianism is not the way to a free society, how can coercion by force be? Thanks for reading, peace.

It's more accurate to say that today it is not uncommon that people idealize libertarianism.

That is also true xD
