📝 Simple Overview 📝

The cool thing about Energi is that they had no ICO or pre-mine, instead distributing their coins through earndrop campaigns. The project is completely funded by having the strongest treasury funding models in the crypto space.

The project focuses heavily on masternodes, staking and absorbing the most powerful concepts in crypto into their ecosystem.

⚙️ Technology ⚙️

In short, Energi was launched with the Proof-of-Work consensus mechanism, with an ASIC resistant algorithm called Energi hash which was similar to Ethereum’s Ethash. Since then, the project transitioned to a Proof-of-Stake consensus with a network of master-nodes.

💰 Treasury System 💰

Energi is completed funded through its treasury system and the goal here is to make the project sustainable. One million Energi coins are released per month:

10% goes to stakers
10% goes to what the project calls ‘the Energi backbone’ which is basically a reward for the project’s leadership.
40% goes to Masternode holders.
40% is allocated to the treasury.

So, the treasury gets around 400,000 coins per month to fund things like marketing efforts and product development. Put another way, that’s around $800,000 a month with Energi valued at ~$2.

💵 Energi Masternodes & Staking 💵

The project made the switch to proof-of-stake in February 2019 and the awesome thing is that you only need one Energi coin to get involved. According to StakingRewards.com, Energi rewards their stakers with a whopping 17% per year.

At the time of making this video, masternode holders can get an annual return of 50%. Other benefits of masternodes include the ability to vote on proposals and the allocation of treasury spending. It should be made clear that the more popular Energi masternodes become the lower this ROI will become.

🔮The Future of Energi 2020 🔮

Energi 3.0 is planned to launch in the first quarter of this year. In short, this change will see Energi switching to the Ethereum code-base and that’s going to allow Energi to support smart contracts. This will allow Energi to do anything that Ethereum can. That means it would be possible to run ICOs or DeFi projects on Energi!

This upgrade will mark the transition from Energi being a transactional cryptocurrency to being a smart contract platform. The project also intends to run an incubator problem for dapps building on the Energi blockchain.

The second big thing coming up for the project in Q3 of 2020 is Energi X. This is a no-fee futures exchange that aims to take market share away from the likes of BitMEX and Bybit. Another important thing to note for Energi coin holders is that the team has planned for Energi to be the main trading pair on the exchange.

📈 Trading & Wallets 📈

Energi is listed on a reasonable number of exchanges. This includes Kucoin (where I like to do my altcoin shopping).

Trade volumes are pretty low for a top 100 coin and big crypto holders might find the liquidity an issue or find the order books a bit shallow. This could lead to some price slippage.

You should know that Energi is not supported by Ledger or Trezor and that the easiest way to receive or store Energi coin is with the Coinomi wallet app for Android and iPhone.
