Global problems faced by mankind today are impacting individuals and nations rapidly. Climate change, famine, war, epidemics of deadly diseases and environmental pollution contribute to the long list of global challenges we, as humans, need to promptly address before an eventual catastrophe swiftly becomes inevitable.
Regardless of political philosophy, religious beliefs, or social customs, all socio-economic systems ultimately depend upon natural resources, such as clean air and water, arable land, and the necessary technology and personnel to maintain a high standard of living.
Modern society has access to highly advanced technologies and can make available food, clothing, housing, medical care, a relevant educational system, and develop a limitless supply of renewable, non-contaminating energy such as geothermal, solar, wind and tidal.
It is now possible to have everyone on Earth enjoy a very high standard of living with all of the amenities that a prosperous civilization can provide. This can be accomplished through the intelligent and humane application of science and technology.
Individuals and interest groups are governed by laws that demand maximum profit where possible. These laws are inherent in the monetary system prevalent in most countries today – capitalism. The basic principles of capitalism demand exponential growth at all cost causing financial cataclysms such as the 1929s Great Depression in the United States and the recent financial crisis of 2007-08.
We are separated by borders and beliefs which make it impossible for us to arrive at relevant solutions while being divided ideologically. Most of our problems today are technical but we are still looking for solutions through political means. We need to accept that eliminating these global threats requires the employment of methodologies rather than personal opinions.

There is another solution emerging...the development of cryptocurrency which is distributed and controlled by the people as opposed to the bankers. This is a radical difference from fiat which goes into the bankers hands to start....then is distributed to the people in the form of debt (with interest tied to the loan).

all interchangeable money has the same problems, it puts us into competition with each other. There is no money to make from investing in the common good and providing resources for all. Who would buy an orange if all the streets had orange trees? There much money to make from the opposite, if you are the only one with an orange tree, you can demand any price for them.

An economy cannot function efficently, or at all, without a unit of account. Money allows one to determine if you are using resources efficiently. This is very important in our world of scarcity.
We dont have a scarcity problem we have a distribution problem. The Earth is more than capable of providing everyone in the world with what they NEED.
There is no way for all people on Earth to unnecessarily overconsume like in many developed countries. We havent figured out how to distribute resources efficiently enough to eliminate or extremely reduce poverty. Capitalism was supposed to solve that but it has failed miserably. So either we figure out how to more efficiently distribute resources or figure out a way to distibute money itself without this wage slavery.

i just had a long drawn out conversation with him, on an idea that someone had about the truth about the sun, and he immediately demanded proof, then called names.

I don't mind people questioning or disagreeing with ideas. But if you're going to do that then please offer solutions to problems we face instead of having the "this is how it is" mentality. I understand @uvas point but I believe there are better solutions that haven't been discovered yet or that are under the radar right now. We just have to keep fighting and searching to innovate and make things better for all of us.
You obviously don't understand basic economics then. Any good that is not scarce has no price. Air for example. Everything that currently has a price IS scarce.
It is a matter of physics. To produce something, more energy must be put in than is extracted. It is the way our universe works. Accept that, and you will understand that the resource based economy cannot work.
What came first the Earth or economics? Economics is an invention along with the idea of scarcity. For example if you live in America and pineapples don't grow there then that doesnt mean pineapples are scarce it just means they dont grow in your location. Which means they exist somewhere abundantly in nature.
And your point about "any good that is not scarce has no price". So dirt which is abundant is bought and sold, water which is abundant is bought and sold, trees which are abundant are bought and sold. You have no point about "scarcity" it's a man made invention to enslave and exploit people. Nature gives and replenishes itself. We as humans have done a crap job of working with nature to get what we NEED
Instead we take take take extract extract extract and then come up with ideas like scarity to continie to do so. This causes so many problems as we see. There are better ways of doing economy but it's a matter of people opening there minds to other ideas on how to make things better.
Fresh potable water is a cheap resource but not unlimited and it costs energy and resources to move it, therefore it has a price. Trees are not expensive but they are harvested rationally. They are farmed like grain. Effort and resources go into growing them and cutting them down and milling them into useful wood. There are costs involved, so they have a price. Dirt is abundant, but digging it up and transporting it takes effort and resources, so it also has a cost. Every resource has a cost in effort and energy, therefore they have a price.
To have a better future we must manage our costs as efficiently as possible. The pricing system of the free market is a global computer that is made up of trillions of individual decisions every single day. These individual decisions make up a vast web of information that computes the value of each individual resource better than any individual can possibly make. This is why all our centrally planned socialist governments fail at steering economies.

Every ITEM in and of itself is a "unit of account" - If you have 10 apples then 1 apple is 1/10 the supply... You can NOT use your "understanding of economics" in a NON-MONETARY system. And you completely ignore the CHILD of "capitalism" know as the ZERO MARGINAL COST ECONOMY
Every unit of anything is not a unit of account. A unit of account is a dominant monetary measure of value. For example, the US dollar.
There are no non-monetary systems. Money is one of the oldest tools that human beings have created. Money is simply a language (in the way that mathematics is a language) used to communicate value. And as long as humans value different things differently, money is a very useful tool.
And for your zero marginal cost economy, well, it is a steaming hunk of crap.
So then what is the unit of account in a BARTER system? Or I suppose your gonna say they don't and have never existed?

TVP's RBE is apolitical system departed from any political notions.
Methodologies meant in this sentence mean scientific methodologies (application of scientific method).
In scientific methodoloy there is no such thing as absolute truth.
