Ovince Saint Preux vs Jimi "The Poster Boy" Manuwa

Fighter Profiles

Ovince Saint Preux

OSP always starts fights as a calculated striker, but once he has taken some damage, he throws caution to the wind and unloads bombs regardless of footing. He enjoys having the size advantage on most opponents, and his long legs and massive frame make him a problem to take down. OSP is one of the scariest hitters in the division and one of the hardest guys to take down. His obliteration of Cummins and Krylov show that he is more than a growing prospect; Ovince is more or less a gatekeeper to the top 5, and has shown a lot since his Strikeforce days. There is a holy trinity at the top of Light Heavyweight, but with some work on attrition and iq...OSP could be one of the few threats to the belt

Jimi "Poster Boy" Manuwa

jimi-40044efd.jpg

'Poster Boy' Manuwa is one of the few elite fighters out of Britain, and he has a good chance to impress his people impressively this weekend. Jimi is a very low volume striker, but he is explosive and deceptive with his kicks which are the most dangerous weapon in his arsenal. Manuwa like OSP always starts out a brooding counter striker, but once the fight progresses and he has eaten some shots, count on him to exchange whenever challenged.

The Matchup

matchup-ov-man89103.jpg

This match up is an interesting one as both men are somewhat identical stylistically. OSP has the definite edge on the ground, but the likelihood of keeping Manuwa down is slim as not even Rumble or Gus could hold him down. Both of these men start slow, and wait for the cleanest shots they can land. Manuwa arguably has the better footwork of the two, hits just as hard as OSP, and honestly has a range of similar fight iq...at least when in trouble. This is a very hard matchup to call, so we have to look at the intangibles. Experience, growth, and level of competition are the things we have to observe in a fighter over time...and at this point both fighters are somewhat even still. OSP has shown tremendous heart he fought through injuries obtained in the first round multiple times, even lasting five rounds with a broken arm against Jon Jones and rocking the (interim) champ on numerous occasions. Manuwa has also shown improvements in cardio and pacing, and he has fought the top guys as well. This is a close fight, and it would be a smart move to bet the dog regardless. Manuwa will be in England where he is from, so it is worth it to think about that.

Support SteemSports Ultimate Vote Betting … together we all can win!

How to Play

  • Vote on the main post to enter the bet (main post rewards will also be added to the Stake Pool).

  • Cast your Vote Bet on ONLY ONE outcome for which you bet on for the win _(Multiple comment votes will be automatically disqualified by the script, unvote and revote counts as multiple votes and will be disqualified).

  • After 24 hours, the post and related game comments payout to the pool; remember 25% voters rewards are deducted from the total post payout value first as per Steem curation rules. Voters are rewarded in standard fashion in proportion to their Steem Power holdings.

  • Entry cut-off time is the earlier of the post payout or the start of the event.

The Stake Pool:

  • The remaining 75% of the total payout is paid out in 50% Steem Power and 50% in liquid currencies, the latter now varies in payout ratio after the new fork. To make the process less complicated, we have decided to use all paid out SBD to buy Steem in the internal market to create a grand total Steem Stake Pool.

  • 30% of the Stake Pool will be retained, of which 15% will go to the writer/sports presenter of the post, and the 15% balance towards editing, development and advertising.

  • 70% of the Stake Pool will be held until the event/game outcome is determined.

  • Once the winning outcome is determined, we will execute a proprietary developed script that will divide and pay out the Steem rewards equally, using the Power Up method, to Mass Distribute SP to all participants that voted on the main post as the entrance fee as well as voted on the correct comment representing the winning outcome.

  • Only participants with a Reputation of 35 or more will qualify to earn SP rewards, but non-qualifiers can still vote and comment in support of the redistribution initiative.

  • @steemsports in the unlikely event that when the Stake Pool is divided up between the winners and the nomenclature resolution goes below the third decimal place (example: 0.0001), then Steem decimal restrictions won’t allow a payout and the pool will carry over to the next game.

  • Please vote responsibly :).

I'm voting for the black guy! :)

Gotta go with the favorite Saint Preux here steemitsports. Now how about posting up some more college or nfl games?

Awesome, that's what I like to hear...

Unfortunate positioning of the Steem symbol :)

yeah you are right actually it is better without.

He is the fav to win for a reason I think. have to go with OSP

I got to go with the favorite OSP

saint preux i think

saint will win

Also have to go with Saint Preux on this one. Btw interesting matchups, UFC is some good taste.

I voted for this guy, yet I am not listed in the payout with the #winners list below...

Is anyone going to take the time to reply to this. I'm just curious what happened. Did I not cast my vote before the deadline?

Hey thanks for all the SP distributed. I have received good stuff from this but I voted on this guys but never got any SP for it :(

Loading...

Got to love an understated prowess and the heart of a lion!!

Go go go Manuwa! ☺

Rooting for the upset here! OSP is too lax in the cage.

Winner!!!

Manuwa in front of his fans.

Well...apparently I'm never going to get a reply to my question as to why I didn't get the payout on this contest even though I picked the winner of the fight. While I appreciate all that @steemsports is doing, I will not be participating in the UFC contests anymore until this leg of the system is fixed.

Hey, sorry about the lack of response, best way is to contact us in steemit.chat thecryptodrive specifically, there are so many comments on here we battle to keep up. Will look into this one.

Hey, ok we figured it out, the payout was based on Manuwa, who won and you can verify on UFC.com. We just posted the winning results under ST Preux in error, but the script ran data for Manuwa, so there was no payout error. We just led you to believe ST Preux won, sorry about that.

So, I voted for the fighter who won this event, yet I never received notification or transfer. I mentioned this in a comment earlier and have yet to hear back from anyone. Either I got overlooked, didn't cast my vote in time, or there is an issue with the algorithm. Could someone please respond to this post? I am not upset, just curious as to what happened. Thank-you!

Jimi "Poster Boy" Manuwa

I just shared it on all my twitter and Facebook! Hope to get some more upvotes :)

Woot good man!!! Everyone share!!

Ovince Saint Preux, cumon, let's go!

Ovince Saint Preux win.

This was not the winner, payout was based on Manua!

my name is not on this list, yet I voted for this guy...did I miss a deadline for casting my vote or something?
