The bodies of German soldiers who died in the Battle of the Selo Heights in World War II were finally rescued. The battle was part of the Soviet attack on Berlin and lasted for three days in April 1945.

Nearly one million soldiers of the Red Army, under the command of Marshal "Georgi Zhukov" to storm Berlin, engaged with about 110,000 German soldiers. The Silo Heights have seen the most bitter battles, with fighting beginning in the early hours of April 16 with heavy bombardment by thousands of artillery.

On the third day the final line of the Selo Heights was breached. It is believed that some 5,000 to 33,000 Russian soldiers died, while 12,000 German soldiers died.

For many German soldiers who died in the battle, they remained in their place ever since, under the dust. But now the bodies of soldiers in the state of Brandenburg have been rescued, thanks to an association working to recover the bodies of the missing soldiers.

The group, consisting of volunteers from Germany, Russia, Ukraine, the Netherlands and Switzerland, was founded in 1992 with 200 members serving as volunteers. They made it clear that they were looking for the unknown dead who had been buried in mass graves. The fallen soldiers were also the victims of the terrible war that no one wanted.
