Cannabis "angers" the Facebook

in #blog7 years ago (edited)

The social networking site "Facebook" has shut down pages selling marijuana in Alaska, angering the companies it manages to say it is licensed to sell the commodity.

The problem draws attention to the problems faced by social networks when they impose restrictions on what can be posted on their sites.

The National Cannabis Association has asked for clarifications from Facebook.

The owners of the banned pages will have the appeal to reinstate their pages, deputy director of the association Taylor West told the Associated Press.

The procedure involves 9 US states that have allowed the use of cannabis for medical and recreational purposes, Taylor said.

She told the BBC that the problem arises from time to time and then disappear.

Facebook does not allow the sale of marijuana, regardless of the country or country in which it operates.

"In order to maintain safe conditions on the site, we have established controls on what is permitted and what is not allowed," a statement from the social networking site said.

Radio and television stations often place restrictions on advertisements associated with the sale of marijuana, making social media a vital medium for reaching consumers.

Lea Livington, who owns a marijuana company, told the Associated Press the ban on the pages was frustrating.
