A truly joyous day is here for Texas A&M tight end Luke Laufenberg. In a tweet written by his father, former NFL journeyman Babe, the son is cancer free.

The horrifying news of the diagnosis was delivered to Laufenberg by way of terribly mishap.
This past December, though, the 6-foot-4, 225-pounder received news nobody wants to hear. What was originally diagnosed as the flu turned out to be a rare form of cancer, Burkitt Leukemia. The day after Christmas, the doctor’s said it had affected 95 percent of his bone marrow.
Per 247Sports, Laufenberg’s football career is likely over, but The Dallas Morning News reported back in January that the family was using a return to football as a way to motivate Luke to overcome the disease. Luke was swayed into walking on at A&M by his friend QB Nick Starkel. Here’s hoping they’ll hit the field in College Station one day and hook up for a touchdown.
