Oil workers in Liaodong Bay resist against ice

in #new7 years ago

Located in the most northern area and the highest latitude among all the sea oil fields in China, Jinzhou 9-3 Oil Field in Liaodong Bay, northeastern Liaoning Province stays in “Ice Age” from every year’s December to next year’s March. The flow of the ice in the sea can cause damage to the oil production platform at any time, thus ice-breaker vessels constantly clear up the ice around the platform.

15 crews including the captain stay on the ice-breaker vessel. They stay at sea every day and can only return to the harbor for supply every 10 days.
