CHESTERFIELD, Mo. >> Hannah Elizabeth Boulaiche of Secane was named to the dean’s list for the fall 2017 semester. Boulaiche, the daughter of Kamal and Bertha, is studying for a Master of Science Degree in Nutrition and Human Performance and expected to complete a curriculum encompassing nutritional biochemistry, metabolic processes, health promotion and wellness and research methods used in nutrition.

Minneapolis >> Julia C. Quindlen, a 2008 graudate of Cardinal O’Hara High School, successfully defended her dissertation to fulfill the requirements for the degree of Doctor of Philosophy in Biomedical Engineering on On Sept. 11. Her dissertation research, “Mechano-to-Neural Transduction of the Pacinian Corpuscle” was completed under the direction of Professor Victor H. Barocas. Quindlen will return to the University of Pennsylvania (Class of 2012) as a post-doctoral research fellow in the Spine Pain Research Laboratory.

PHILADELPHIA >> University of the Sciences inducted 41 new members into its Pennsylvania Kappa Chapter of the Alpha Chi National Honor Society. The annual ceremony was held on Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2017. Among the inductees are: Jessica Sebastian of Havertown, a bachelor of science in health science in physician assistant studies student; and Dakota Raymond of Chadds Ford, a doctor of physical therapy student.
During the ceremony, inductees were introduced by their faculty advisers or department chairs who highlighted each student’s accomplishments. At USciences, Alpha Chi is open to the top 10 percent of juniors and seniors in all majors except pharmacy, who are eligible for Rho Chi; and psychology/health psychology, who are eligible for Psi Chi.
WESLEY COLLEGE
DOVER, DEL. >> Chester resident Jasmin Evans was one of six students to be inducted into Psi Chi, Wesley’s International Honor Society in Psychology Chapter. The induction ceremony was held on Tuesday, Nov. 7, on campus.
Psi Chi is a professional organization that encourages excellence in the science and application of psychology, and promotes networking with like-minded psychology students and faculty.
Membership in Wesley’s Psi Chi chapter is open to students who are majoring or minoring in psychology. The requirements to become a member include: Completing at least 3 semesters of full-time college coursework, completing at least 9 semester credit hours of psychology courses, earning a cumulative GPA that is in the top 35 percent of the class, and maintaining a minimum 3.0 GPA average for psychology courses.
