Certain foods can contribute to anxiety and depression and make the treatment more difficult. If you suffer from depression, beware of the following:

  1. Soda drinks
    Soda drinks contain way too much blood-spiking sugar with none of the nutritional value. All sugar-sweetened drinks have a direct link to depression.
    Soda is something which you should completely eliminate from your diet. If you have a craving for soda, try natural fruit juices with natural sparkling water instead. The same goes for diet soda. It does not contain sugar, but it can still contribute to depression and anxiety states, as it contains too much caffeine.

  2. Processed Foods
    If you eat too much of processed meat, refined cereals, candy, pastries, and high-fat dairy products, you’re more likely to develop anxiety and depression. A diet full of whole fiber-rich grains, fruits, vegetables, and fish can help keep you much healthier and can significantly improve your mood.

  3. White bread and toast
    The highly processed white flour quickly turns to blood sugar after you eat it. That can cause energy spikes and crashes that can be bad for anxiety and depression. You can have your toast - just use whole-grain bread.
