#7:Mirror Mirror on My Body!
HELLO EVERYONE!
Today I am gonna share something different and contemporary jewelry experimented with CAMERA LENSES. He elevates old camera lens elements to the status of jewels, creating technically exacting jewelry that is awash in color and a sense of play. His work is inspired by his travels in various parts of the world—the saturated colors of Mexico, a desert in Chile, old etchings in a German city.
JIRO KAMATA, 1978, born in Hirosaki, Japan. Artist that lives and works in Munich, studied at The Academy of Fine Arts Munich, with Prof.Otto Künzli and has works at the following collections related to jewelry: Tesa Ring, Target, Sunny, Momentopia, Arboresque, Bi, Palette, Flare, Ghost, and many more.
So guys have a Glance at JIRO KAMATA by "MOMENTOPIA COLLECTION 2008".
Kamata’s passion for dismantling old photographic camera objectives into their individual parts in order to utilize the lenses for creating new jewelry – camera lenses that have perhaps already seen the whole world and countless pictures. In the utilization of materials and technical execution, the chains and pendants by this artist have advanced far ahead of “normal” jewelry. They are more like small treasures that are enlivened by technical precision and light reflections. Through the use of the camera lenses, Kamata has created jewelry which reflects the surroundings in a very special manner, thus becoming a part of their environment. The curved surfaces of the lenses are opalescent like a subtle film of oil on dark water. In unique color facets, however, they are neither harsh nor bright.
