RBS & NatWest (closing 158 branches as well as to cut 470 jobs)

RBS and NatWest to close 158 branches and cut 470 jobs: Is your local bank shutting?

TAXPAYER-BACKED NatWest and RBS are closing 158 branches and axing hundreds of jobs, blaming a rise in online and mobile banking.

Up to 470 employees stand to lose their job, as NatWest and RBS shut 128 and 30 branches respectively - another 300 staff will moved to different roles as a result of the changes.

It comes on top of 1,500 jobs that were culled last year and 32 branch cuts.

Older people and more vulnerable people without access to the internet are typically worst affected by closures, as they rely on branches for access to vital services.

The bank, 73 per cent owned by taxpayers, said it has seen a "dramatic shift" in the way customers bank, with more using mobile and online over traditional branch counters.

Transactions in branches have fallen by 43 per cent since 2010, according to the company.

In an effort to soften the blow of closures, the group has created two new roles - community banker and NatWest or Royal Bank of Scotland TechXpert.

Community bankers are set to serve local areas, with a particular focus on rural communities, to provide customers with personal assistance and support.

And the specialist taskforce of NatWest and Royal Bank of Scotland TechXperts will support customers with training and support with digital skills.

After the latest branch cuts, there will be 151 RBS and 856 NatWest branches left.

An RBS spokesperson said: “Many more customers are choosing to do their banking using mobile and online services over traditional branch counters.

"We interact with our customers over 20 times more through digital channels than physical ones. We have 4.2 million personal mobile users, up by over two million since 2014.

"As customers change the way they bank with us, we must change the way we serve them.

"The role of the branch is fast moving to a centre for advice, away from basic transactions.

"While the branch will still be a core part of our offering to customers, inevitably some branches will have to close.

"We know that some of our customers prefer to do their everyday banking face to face and we will help them with the alternative ways to bank in their community through our Community Bankers and NatWest or Royal Bank of Scotland TechXperts."

It is not an accident, it is policy.

I am pleased to see you are sharing the evidence of what is really happening, as this trend of bank branch closings (and consolidation) has been going on for years as I have blogged about it regularly over the years. My most recent return to this was last week with:
Major U.S. Banks Are Closing Branch Offices!
Years ago when I first took note of this institutional trend (esp within the Financial industry) I didn't connect it to the script to usher in the digital economy - but now it is obvious.

Ha-ha my meme is old, I see I need to create a updated meme LOL 😃
But you get the idea that the script is being followed, right?

Evidence of The Globalists' Plans

Thanks. I agree with you. And the Solutions are only going to hurt the little guy. Thanks again

@revelationquotes their solutions and policies are designed to tighten controls and protect themselves with regulatory capture and "barriers to entry".
But we can stop them by starving the beast.

PS:
The deceitful secrets within steem are coming to surface, and the next hard fork looks to become very controversial!
See @elfspice thread Calibrae fork, one sample is his post:
Proposed changes in the Calibrae fork

I'm questioning the survival of steemit...

So...Is this really happening to STEEMit? When? and are they really a good thing?

@revelationquotes ?I don't understand your question.
The threads and related posts are numerous as Ned, and others are immersed in controversy with some hidden and devious activities that led to the steemit hierarchy. I am looking into it, but have no conclusion on what happened before I became a steemit user.
But the improvements and solutions offered look favorable to me.
Look into it and decide for yourself.

As I said before, I still do not know what steemit is, because as a blogger I would give steemit barely a passing grade for a blog platform.
The structural design that promote hierarchy is a glaring elephant in the steemit room. Why that decision was made seems very suspicious to me, and that was before I knew about the alleged back-story.
The whole whale meme is a structural design problem/benefit and I didn't know about "pre-mining" controversial wealth creation before the steem platform was open to the public. Yes I consider it is "alleged" but some whales have attempted to hide the evidence - so there is some reason to suspect this may be true and to investigate further.
I thought you may be interested in looking into this as transparency and improvements are needed regardless of the controversy or allegations.

I hope that answers your question, I don't have any more to add and will be watching this as the quorum is sought for the next fork.
