A Beautiful Story

Lwiro Primates, a sanctuary for chimpanzees and monkeys in the Democratic Republic of the Congo, uploaded a video that quickly went viral and was shared thousands of times. Anthony Caere is the pilot in the one-minute clip, and he's making a very important trip: transporting Baby Mussa to the Lwiro primate sanctuary. The baby chimp was rescued from a poacher who was also in illegal possession of protected reptiles.

" Unfortunately, his family is dead",

wrote Lwiro in a comment on Facebook.

"We do not know how many, maybe only the mother, but most likely several members of her family have been killed".

In the video, Baby Mussa plays with the accelerator of the pilot and looks in amazement through the window, then even takes a nap. It is impossible not to faint.

Mussa is the third chimpanzee that Lwiro Primates rescued this year, and currently they care for 80 chimpanzees and 100 monkeys of various species, according to Itaso Vélez del Burgo, technical director of the group.

Although he is safe and in good hands, the primate baby is still adapting to his new environment, as well as the other orphaned babies he is now surrounded by.

“At first I was a little scared, probably because he has spent a lot of time alone without seeing another chimpanzee. & quot; Now he is much safer playing with them and laughing, even if he is still very attached to the goalkeeper"

Mussa's life has been difficult and everyone could not be more grateful for his rescue, but they also seemed to be very interested in the driver Anthony Caere. Caere is the main pilot of the Air Wing of the park's four planes. The Virunga website says it is frequently inspecting poaching sites and performing medical evaluations on rescued animals. And fortunately, apart from the jokes, Baby Mussa will be fine.
