The UAE Celebrates Its' 42nd Annual Armed Forces Unification Day
UAE Chief of Staff of Armed Forces: Unification Day true beginning for nation's military advancement
ABU DHABI, 5th May, 2018 -- Marking the 42nd UAE Armed Forces Unification Day, Lt. General Hamad Mohammed Thani Al Rumaithi, Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces, said that the unification of the Armed Forces represents the true beginning of transforming the nation's military capabilities.
In an interview with 'Nation Shield', the UAE's military journal, Al Rumaithi added, "The UAE Armed Forces has proven its military capabilities and professionalism across many missions, from assisting regional and global partners in maintaining international peace, to providing help to regions affected by natural disasters and conflict across the world."
The full text of the Chief of Staff of the Armed Forces statement is as follows:
"On this day we commemorate the 42nd anniversary of the unification of our armed forces, recalling with great pride and appreciation for the Founding Father, the late Sheikh Zayed bin Sultan Al Nahyan, and his brothers, who understood the importance of unifying the armed forces as the foundation of the Union, that continues to look towards further development and advancement, reflective of the UAE people's ambitions to attain peace and security.
This year, Unification Day coincides with the 'Year of Zayed' - commemorating the centennial anniversary of the birth of the UAE's Founding Father - raising our sense of pride to higher levels. It is because of the late Sheikh Zayed's values and care that helped build our Armed Forces and created a climate conducive to the nation's development march across all sectors.
Sheikh Zayed's legacy has been carried forward by the UAE leadership, headed by President His Highness Sheikh Khalifa bin Zayed Al Nahyan, His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Vice President, Prime Minister and Ruler of Dubai, and His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, Crown Prince of Abu Dhabi and Deputy Supreme Commander of the UAE Armed Forces, who have further expanded the capabilities of the UAE Armed Forces with the latest weapons technologies and military finesse, enabling the nation's security and stability.
The decision to unify the armed forces was the true beginning of the development and modernisation process witnessed by the UAE Armed Forces. At present, our armed forces represent an exemplary force trained in accordance with the latest military regimens with access to modern armaments systems, to ensure the safety, security, and stability of the nation and its citizens and residents alike.
The UAE Armed Forces has proven its military capabilities and professionalism across many missions, assisting regional and global partners to maintaining international peace, providing assistance to regions affected by natural disasters and conflict across the world.
These achievements across the years would have not been achieved without the support of the UAE leadership, who continue to inspire and motivate our military cadres to push forward and grow towards new potential.
On this occasion, we always remember with gratitude and appreciation the martyrs of our armed forces who have sacrificed their lives for the homeland and the principles of the UAE to defend the righteous, and contributing to the maintenance of peace and security in the region and the world. The UAE's martyrs will continue to light up the homeland's history throughout the ages.
We also extend our thanks and gratitude to our armed forces in Yemen for their sacrifice and bravery, as we continue to stand to assist the brotherly nation for its security and legitimacy.
