Kalaash Valley & Kalaashi culture, For nature loving
The Kalasha (Kalasha: Kaĺaśa, Nuristani: Kasivo, Urdu: کالاش), or Kalash, are a Dardic indigenous people residing in Bombarit, rambor & birir valley in Chitral District of Khyber-Pakhtunkhwa province of Pakistan. They speak the Kalasha language, from the Dardic family of the Indo-Aryan branch. They have unique culture & norm, that’s why they are considered unique among the peoples of Pakistan. They are also considered to be Pakistan's smallest ethnoreligious community, practising a religion which some scholars characterise as a form of animism, and other academics as "a form of ancient Hinduism".
The neighbouring Nuristani people of the adjacent Nuristan (historically known as Kafiristan) province of Afghanistan once practised the faith adhered to by the Kalashi people. By the late 19th century, much of Nuristan had been converted to Islam, although some evidence has shown the people continued to practice their customs as kalaashi people do.
During our visit to Kalaash valley bombrait on their seasonal festival we have visited all their places & leaned a lot about their way of living & culture. On our visit to their graveyard we saw remains of their dead ancestors in wooden boxes.
We have spend two days their & also attended their festival unique way of dance.
I do recommend & suggest to visit this place which is full of all blessings of God like natural landscapes, awesome weather, River with blushing white & clean water & unique culture of these people.
You’ll enjoy your trip via road as the whole journey through upper Dir is full of natural landscapes.
