Giving Up These Social Media... Is it Difficult for Users?
In early 2018, the most popular social media in the US are YouTube (73% of Americans use it) and Facebook (68%).
Some 59% of social media users think it would not be hard to give up social media. By contrast, 40% say they would indeed find it hard to give up social media. At the same time, the share of social media users who would find it hard to give up these services has grown somewhat in recent years: in January 2014, it was 28%.
The social media story extends well beyond well-known platforms: the photo and video-sharing services have shown a considerable increase.
Despite using social media for a wide range of reasons, just 3% of users indicate that they trust the information they find there. And relatively few have confidence in these platforms to keep their personal information safe from bad actors.
The social media growth is stable: most of us use these platforms and many are not going to give up them. At the same time, the social media landscape is changing. New types of content become more popular, new platforms appear. In Monoreto, we focus on user interests. We develop a trusted platform, which will never sell your data to third parties.
