"put your bodies upon the gears"

This is from Mario's speech on the steps of Sproul Hall at the University of California, Berkeley in 1964. Now these steps are the Mario Savio steps.

"There's a time when the operation of the machine becomes so odious, makes you so sick at heart, that you can't take part! You can't even passively take part! And you've got to put your bodies upon the gears and upon the wheels…upon the levers, upon all the apparatus, and you've got to make it stop! And you've got to indicate to the people who run it, to the people who own it, that unless you're free, the machine will be prevented from working at all!"

Mario was an activist for free speech in Mississippi and at Berkely. After his Berkeley years he taught mathematics, philosophy and logic at Sonoma State University. We need to listen to some of his logic today. We don't have to put up with the odious machine. It takes some sacrifice but let's use the steemit as a real free speech platform. Say what you want to say and let it be heard^^
