Sometimes letting go means holding on.
This painting has been with me for a couple years. In an out of the gallery, back to my house and forth....hoping someone would buy it but also taking it back with great joy each time I rearrange my offerings and it lands back on my wall in my home. I am starting to think I might just keep this one for myself!
Orion’s Horse, Alnitak, of Zeta Orionis is bounding across the horizon in a wave of cosmic radiation, towards her Sister Stars, Alnilam and Mintaka. Alnitak is the brightest Class O Star in the sky. This blue super-giant and it’s fellow stars are better-known as Orion’s belt.
I painted this with a broken fibula and it is a testament to determination and staying strong. It has been a long and windy path, to become the Artist I am. It is now time to blaze forth, into a new frontier. I sit here with a blown knee, months after a csection, with a amazing baby boy and I am still determined.
Astronomical Art is exciting to me because it is the result of new technology and epitomizes the leaps and bounds taken by humanity. It also allows me the freedom to create abstract images that have roots in actual reality. Like watching a cloud in the sky form fantastical images for the imagination, it falls upon the eye of the observer to see what they will.
Maby I should hold onto this piece for myself and let go of the notion that I need to put a price on all my creations and trade them away for someone else's enrichment? I think in this case, I will keep it for my own enjoyment!

Wow! First of all this is an incredible piece of art. So majestic. Secondly, it's even more incredible that you created this with a broken fibula. I am in awe. You are such a strong creative force!
Thank you for sharing @michelleart :)
PS: I'd love to hear your thoughts about my recent post: Want To Get What You Don't Already Have? The Art Of Compersion Will Get You There!
I will check it out! Thanks :)
even though I had run out of wall space, and the racks in my studio are overflowing, I hate to let anything go. Fortunately I am not in a situation where I need to sell my art for being able to survive, so I am even talking people out of buying, lol. This doesn't mean I don't sell, but it is always through my agent who has no sentimental attachment to my work.
