Climbing the Osmena Peak 🌁⛅🌞

Osmena Peak is the highest point of the island in Cebu. It is located in the municipality of Dalaguete. This astounding sites offer a very nice and dramatic view of ragged cliffs and a view of a sea in a distance. This view is different from the Cholocolate Hills of Bohol because instead of the rolling curved mounds, the hills here have sharp protruding peaks.

In fact, Mantalongon in Dalaguete is considered the “Little Baguio of Cebu” with its fertile land, cooler climate and vegetable fields. Along the way, we saw farmers carrying large baskets of freshly harvested vegetables. The Mantalongan vegetable market is the bagsakan or wholesale trading post for cabbages, carrots, bell pepper and other vegetables. It’s also the most common starting point for treks, if you don’t want to hire a habal-habal driver to go up to the base camp.

Our journey to Osmeña Peak started with a very scenic motorcycle ride. The ride was bumpy, but it passed through some beautiful twisty mountain roads in the barangay roads of Alegria, with stunning views of fields and hills along the way before reaching Mantolongon. You will just pay 100 php per head to the habal-habal.

When we reach to Osmena Peak, we aso amazed the view offered. Actually you don't need to have a guide but it wouldn't hurt to give extra income to the locals their. And also, if you want to have a nice shot, the guide also will take a picture of you. Don't under estimate them, some guide are very young but they are very approachable and they can take nice shots. Promise! You will not regret to choose them as your guide. And the payment is only up to you but in our case we pay 150php and its only for 1 hour.

Some mountaineers opt to camp out overnight so they catch the sunrise early in the morning. But some also will opt to camp out overnight to Kawasan Falls in Badian or in Tingku Beach in Alcoy. So in our case, after hiking and taking pictures in Osmena Peak we take our overnight in Tingku beach in Alcoy. We ride habal-habal for 150 php each.
