THE REAL JOHN McCAIN...made "Hanoi" Jane Fonda look like a rightwing patriot and icon of virtue.

This is an older article, but it is jam packed full of information that has been totally covered up in all the half-masted nonsense surrounding the death of the latest American mega-traitor. McCain is responsible for more foreign meddling than anyone outside the Bush/Rockefeller/Clinton cabal, and that should be his real legacy. Not only did he condemn thousands of Americans to death, and hundreds of thousands of innocent foreign civilians, but he also left many POWs to die in Vietnam by his actions in the Congress.

This guy, as this excellent, well-written article points out was a self-absorbed, wife-abusing, IDIOT playboy, who never deserved to be anywhere a seat of public trust, let alone the U.S. Senate. While you may find it a bit strange for a self-described conservative Constitutionalist patriot (me) to point to an article in the notoriously left-leaning "Rolling Stone" magazine, I am first and foremost a TRUTHER, and this article is jammed packed full of it:

While at The U.S. Naval Academy:

"He repeatedly blew up in the face of his commanding officer. It was the kind of insubordination that would have gotten any other midshipman kicked out of Annapolis. But his classmates soon realized that McCain was untouchable. Midway though his final year, McCain faced expulsion, about to 'bilge out' because of excessive demerits. After his mother intervened, however, the academy’s commandant stepped in. Calling McCain “spoiled” to his face, he nonetheless issued a reprieve, scaling back the demerits. McCain dodged expulsion a second time by convincing another midshipman to take the fall after McCain was caught with contraband. 'He was a huge screw-off,' recalls Butler. 'He was always on probation. The only reason he graduated was because of his father and his grandfather — they couldn’t exactly get rid of him.' McCain’s self-described 'four-year course of insubordination' ended with him graduating fifth from the bottom — 894th out of a class of 899. It was a record of mediocrity he would continue as a pilot."

As a P.O.W. in Vietnam:

"But the subsequent tale of McCain’s mistreatment — and the transformation it is alleged to have produced — are both deeply flawed. The Code of Conduct that governed POWs was incredibly rigid; few soldiers lived up to its dictate that they 'give no information . . . which might be harmful to my comrades.' Under the code, POWs are bound to give only their name, rank, date of birth and service number — and to make no 'statements disloyal to my country.'

Dramesi says he has no desire to dishonor McCain’s service, but he believes that celebrating the downed pilot’s behavior as heroic — 'he wasn’t exceptional one way or the other' — has a corrosive effect on military discipline. 'This business of my country before my life?' Dramesi says. 'Well, he had that opportunity and failed miserably. If it really were country first, John McCain would probably be walking around without one or two arms or legs — or he’d be dead'.”

About his horrible treatment of his desperately ill first wife:

"If heroism is defined by physical suffering, Carol McCain is every bit her ex-husband’s equal. Driving alone on Christmas Eve 1969, she skidded out on a patch of ice and crashed into a telephone pole. She would spend six months in the hospital and undergo 23 surgeries. The former model McCain bragged of to his buddies in the POW camp as his 'long tall Sally' was now five inches shorter and walked with crutches.

In the spring of 1979, while conducting official business for the Navy, the still-married McCain encountered Cindy Lou Hensley, a willowy former cheerleader for USC. Mutually smitten, the two lied to each other about their ages. The 24-yea.r-old Hensley became 27; the 42-year-old McCain became 38. For nearly a year the two carried on a cross-country romance while McCain was still living with Carol: Court documents filed with their divorce proceeding indicate that they 'cohabitated as husband and wife' for the first nine months of the affair. Although McCain stresses in his memoir that he married Cindy three months after divorcing Carol, he was still legally married to his first wife when he and Cindy were issued a marriage license from the state of Arizona."

THEN...there is a whole litany of political betrayals and neocon swindling and treason, but we'll let you delve into all that more mundane stuff on your own. You may thinking it is harsh to point out who this "American hero" really was so soon after his passing, but the American people need to know how far the nation has apparently stooped in terms of celebrating treason and those who serve treason. THAT NEED OUTWEIGHS ANY NEED FOR HIDING THE TRUTH IN THE WAKE OF McCAIN'S DEATH. The country is simply far, far too important in comparison to one little spoiled traitor's "legacy."

But, the facts presented here (and in the sourced article) SHOULD BE part of the public discussion surrounding issues such as illegal preferment, nepotism, American imperialism, and the emerging notions of political entitlement and dynasty-building that have become far too prevalent in modern America. We are a nation built on equality of opportunity with no preference permissible to ANYONE based on connections, familial or otherwise.
