SH17** Who Controls or Owns The Most Bitcoin In The World???

in #bincoin8 years ago

With the rise of the block-chain cryptocurrency Bitcoin, many people want to know: Who owns Bitcoin and how much?

Answering that question is difficult. Bitcoin, first of all, is not owned or issued by any government, entity or person. It is actually the creation of Satoshi Nakamoto, who some speculate isn't even a real person and is, rather, a group of people.
Bitcoin is also untraceable and its ownership is only known through the blockchain. In layman's terms, this means that the only person who knows the owner of a specific Bitcoin is the Bitcoin itself. The owner would also know, but without access to the Bitcoin password, it's impossible to know who truly owns it. In other words, Bitcoin leaves no paper trail and its ownership is completely anonymous.
However, according to the data on BitcoinPlay, there are a few major players who own their fair share of the Bitcoin cryptocurrency. Here are a few of the biggest known holders of Bitcoin:

The Bitcoin Creator

To start with, Satoshi Nakamoto the creator of Bitcoin, whether a person or group of people, is estimated to own approximately US$4.7 billion (S$6.4 billion) worth of Bitcoin, at today's rates. That number, again, is an estimation, as it could be significantly higher or lower. No one can even prove who he/she is and what the exact holdings of Nakamoto's Bitcoin portfolio are.

The Chinese Bitcoin Farms

The Chinese mining pools that actually mine the cryptocurrency and bring it into circulation are also huge players in the Bitcoin game. It is estimated that 81 per cent of all Bitcoin's collective "hash-rate" - currently 16 - are controlled by these Chinese mining pools or "Bitcoin farms". It is estimated that "Antpool," one of the larger Bitcoin mining operations, accounted for approximately 20 per cent of all Bitcoins mined or farmed in the 2016 to 2017 time-period.

The FBI

The FBI is another major owner of Bitcoin. It is estimated that they own nearly 1.5 per cent of all Bitcoin in circulation today. Similar to the Chinese mining pools, the FBI has similar farming or mining operations. However, it's nothing as big or extensive as their Chinese counterparts.

Satoshi Dice

Satoshi Dice was the fist big Bitcoin acquisition recorded. In 2013, it acquired 126,315 Bitcoin, which would be worth over US$277 million in today's markets.

It is estimated that Bitcoin will have a total of 17 million BTC in circulation by 2027. While many of its owners remain anonymous, as the currency's value increases and is sold off, we will finally get to see who the really big players are, in the world of Bitcoin.
