Giants vs Diamondbacks 8/4
I did not work Friday; my girlfriend works a 9-5 office job. As soon as she came home; we hoped into the jeep and drove to SF. Its about a 45 minute drive to get to AT&T park from Palo Alto, CA. Checked the weather upon arrival; 71*F with clear skies. A nice change to the muggy overcast weather we had earlier in the week. Tickets came with free parking.
Second visit to the Giants stadium this season. My girlfriend is an As fan by default because her kiddo loves the Oakland Athletics. These tickets were given to her as a gift from a co-worker who has season tickets.
Arrived 15 minutes before the game starts. We didn't go through the front gate; but a special side gate with no line.
Found myself in an area I have never seen of the stadium. Blue Shield Field Club; WTF is this? It has its own private fully stocked bar with a wide range of craft beers on tap? More food choices?! Apparently its only available to season ticket holders.
From the website https://sf.eater.com; this is what is offered in the field club
Field Club
Ballpark Snacks: Old-fashioned penny candy, strawberry shortcake, hand-tossed caramel corn, and soft pretzels.
The Carvery: Brisket, corned beef, turkey, and pastrami, plus potato salad and housemade potato chips. This year's new addition: porchetta sandwiches with arugula.
Derby Grill: Hamburgers, chicken tenders, pulled-pork sandwiches, bratwurst, lamb burgers.
Edsel Ford Fong's: Asian food, with a more expanded menu from the Promenade Level location. Build-your-own rice and noodle bowls, with beef, chicken, tofu, and veggie options, are the main draw.
Giuseppe Bazurro: Italian eats like pizza, grilled eggplant panini, and Italian combo sandwiches, plus Greek and chicken Caesar salads in regular or wrap form.
Joe Garcia's: Soft tacos, burritos, quesadillas and other Mexican dishes.
The Wine Bar: Similar wine selection to the farmer's market cart upstairs: sauvignon blanc, pinot gris, shiraz, and red blends, by the glass or carafe, with some draft wine options.
I ordered an IPA; Deschutes Fresh Squeezed on tap. She ordered a top shelf margarita. Ofcoarse drinks are first and then we ordered at Edsel Ford Fong's. Here, you can pick rice or chow mein noodles along with vegetables/sauce/toppings and then have the chef stir fry everything in a wok. Not bad; I am Chinese so I'm a tough critic with Asian food.
And now to our seats to watch the game! Beautiful day out...
She turns her head away everytime I do a panoramic shot. Although I did get a picture of her decked out in Giants gear and standing in front of the 3 World Series Trophies on display. I am framing that photo.
Game was rather slow; Giants lost to the Arizona Diamondbacks 2 to 1. But I had a great time.
