Benefits of Studying Educational Psychology science For Teachers and Prospective Teachers

hello steemian friends .. this time i will try to share a little science that i learned during teaching at smk school in aceh .. this time i will post about the benefits of learning psychology science education for teachers and prospective teachers in this psychology. divided into two aspects, namely:

1. To Learn Situation In Learning Process

Educational psychology contributes a lot to teachers and prospective teachers to improve the efficiency of the learning process under different conditions as below [1]:

a. Understanding Individual Differences (Learners)

A teacher must deal with a group of students in the class with caution, because the characteristics of each student vary. Therefore, it is important to understand the different characteristics of these students at different growth and development levels to create an effective and efficient learning process. Educational psychology can help teachers and prospective teachers understand the characteristics of these students.

b. Creation of a Conducive Learning Climate in the Classroom

A good understanding of the classroom used in the learning process helps the teacher to deliver the material to the students effectively. Conducive learning climate must be created by teachers so that the learning process can run effectively. A teacher should know the right principles in the teaching and learning process, different approaches in teaching for better teaching and learning outcomes. Educational psychology plays a role in helping teachers to create a conducive socio-emotional climate in the classroom, so that the learning process in the classroom can be effective.

c. Selection of Learning Strategies and Methods

Learning method is based on the characteristics of student development. Educational psychology can help teachers in determining appropriate or appropriate learning strategies and methods, and be able to relate them to the characteristics and uniqueness of the individual, the type of learning and learning style and the level of development that the is experiencing by learners

d. Giving Guidance to Learners

A teacher must play a different role in school, not only in the execution of learning, but also acting as a guide for learners. Guidance is a kind of help to students to solve the problems they face. Knowledge of educational psychology allows teachers to provide the necessary educational and vocational guidance for students at different age levels.

e. Evaluating Learning Outcomes

Teachers should perform two important activities in the classroom such as teaching and evaluating. Evaluation activities help in measuring student learning outcomes. Educational psychology can assist teachers and prospective teachers in developing a more equitable evaluation of student learning, both in technical evaluation, fulfillment of evaluation principles and determining evaluation outcomes.

2. For Implementation of Teaching and Learning Principles

For the Application of Principles of Teaching and Learning in psychology are also several kinds, namely

a. Setting Learning Objectives

The purpose of learning refers to changes in behavior experienced by students after the implementation of the learning process. Educational psychology helps teachers in determining the desired form of behavioral change as a learning objective.

b. Use of Learning Media

Knowledge of educational psychology required teachers to plan appropriately the learning media to be used. For example the use of audio-visual media, so it can provide a real picture to learners.

c. Preparation of Lesson Schedule

Lesson schedules should be based on the psychological state of the learner. For example subjects that are considered difficult for students such as mathematics and programming languages are placed at the beginning of the lesson, where the student's condition is fresh and the spirit of receiving the subject matter.

Based on the description, it can be concluded that the overall science of educational psychology plays a role in helping teachers to plan, organize and evaluate teaching and learning activities in schools.
