Menikmati Cerpen Arafat Nur | Enjoying Arafat Nur' Short Story
Buku ini merupakan Kumpulan Cerpen "Senja di Sebuah Desa" karya tunggal Arafat Nur yang diterbitkan Pustaka Intermasa pada 2007 lalu. Dalam buku ini terdapat 13 cerita yang menarik tentang sosial masyarakat Aceh pada umumnya. Berikut ini salah satu penggalan cerpen "Penjaga Pesantren" yang terhimpun dalam buku ini.
“KENAPA diam?” tanya Midi kesal.
Saifat tidak menjawab. Tangannya sibuk menulisi kertas kumal di meja yang bertaplakkan plastik. Huruf-huruf keriting itu hampir penuh bertebaran. Midi memandang geram ke arahnya. Kata-kata yang sedari tadi dilontarkan tidak mendapatkan reaksi sedikit pun.
“Seharusnya kau menyadari, perbuatanmu itu meresahkan orang lain. Ketenteraman mereka terusik. Lagi pula apa faedahnya kau teriak-teriak sendirian di tengah malam. Orang-orang pasti menyangkamu sakit jiwa.”
Kertas kumal itu telah penuh dengan coretan. Saifat menarik kertas kosong lain di sebelahnya, lalu menindihkannya ke atas kertas yang penuh coretan tadi. Dia kembali sibuk seperti semula, mengisi kertas-kertas itu dengan huruf-huruf keriting.

This book is a collection of short stories "Dusk in a Village" by Arafat Nur, published by Intermasa Library in 2007. In this book there are 13 interesting stories about the social community of Aceh in general. Here is one of the short stories of "Pesantren Watchers" collected in this book.
"WHY silence?" Midi asked irritably.
Saifat did not answer. His hands were busy writing the shabby paper on the plastic tablecloth. The letters were almost full. Midi glared at him. The words that had been made did not get any reaction.
"You should have realized, your actions are troubling others. Their tranquility was disturbed. Anyway what's in it for you to yell alone in the middle of the night. People must think you're mentally ill. "
The tattered paper was full of graffiti. Saifat pulls another blank paper next to it, then pivotes it onto the scratchy paper. He was busy again, filling the papers with curls.
