- Be a good role model. To be respected, it's important to show that you know your field. People will honor and listen to you if they know that you have extensive knowledge in your field.
Tell us about your experience. Without bragging, let your employees understand how long you've been in your business, and what you've accomplished. Not only will they better understand why you are their boss, but they will also admire you more and are eager to be part of your team.
Act professionally. Even if you are the boss, you should be friendly to all employees and must also meet the basic standards of professionalism, such as being well dressed, coming to the office and meeting in a timely manner, and communicating professionally.
- Clarify your rules and expectations. Whether you are the CEO of a company or the manager of a team of four people, it's important to set your rules clearly from the beginning.
Have basic guidelines or rule books that you can teach your employees about how they should work.

Praise your employees when necessary. If one of your employees accomplishes something great, it would not hurt to praise his achievements by email or meeting. While this may not make their faces red, they will see that you are paying attention to their hard work.

But make sure you do not chat too often or socialize with your employees. It's good to be friends with your employees at work, but if all you're doing is chatting with your employees, people will think if you're more focused on being accepted than being a good leader.
Avoid relationships at work. This will usually end badly and can make you lose the respect of your employees, even your work.
