Here’s what you need to know: Who: Houston Texans vs. Carolina Panthers What: 2017 Preseason Week 1 Where: Bank of America Stadium When: Wednesday, August 9, 2017 Time: 7:30p ET. Eastern TV: NFLN Livestream: NFLN Sports, NFLN Sports The Texans vs Panthers open  their preseason schedule in just five days when they welcome the Houston  Texans to Bank of America Stadium on Wednesday, August 9 at 7:30 p.m.  ET. The Panthers won’t play their starters for very long, but we’ll get a  good opportunity to see the younger players in action, notably running  back Christian McCaffrey. The two biggest games in the  preseason — games two and three — are both on the road, so the Panthers  will get a little practice in playing back-to-back away games. As  always, the most important game is the third one where the Panthers will  face off against their fellow 1995 expansion team (and cat brothers) —  the Jacksonville Jaguars.

The Texans vs Panthers, led by rookie  quarterback Dak Prescott and rookie running back Ezekiel Elliott,  stunned the NFL with an 11-game winning streak on their way to finishing  with a 13-3 record and capturing the NFC East title. Texans vs Panthers who took over after  Tony Romo was injured during the preseason, played with poise of a  veteran during the regular season and the question is whether he will  continue to improve or suffer a sophomore slump. Prescott was helped by  the performance of Elliott, who led the NFL in rushing with 1,631 yards  while averaging a hefty 5.1 yards a carry. The Texans vs Panthers are looking to  rebound after a highly disappointing 2016 season. The Panthers finished  with a 7-8-1 record in 2016 after capturing the NFC West title in 2015.  If the Panthers are going to contend for a playoff berth in 2017, they  will need quarterback Carson Palmer to rebound after a 2016 season that  left some wondering if he should retire.
