Mid-Day Motivation - Stick With It - Quote by Vivienne Harr | Original DSound Audio
Stick with it, even on the bad days
quote by Vivienne Harr
It might be hard to believe that this quote is by a 10-year-old American entrepreneur, socially conscious beverage founder, and children's book author.
Back in 2012, Vivienne saw a photo by Lisa Kristine of two brothers from the Himalayas carrying slabs of rocks on their backs while holding hands. Vivienne was puzzled by their discomfort and wondered why they weren't playing like the kids she knows. Her parents explained to her that it wasn't their choice to be working and in fact they were slaves.
This photo left such an impression on Vivienne that took the initiative to open a lemonade stand in her neighborhood to raise awareness and funds to eradicate child slavery. With the help of her parents, Vivianne founded a social purpose company called Make A Stand. Vivienne's desire was to raise $100,000 to free 500 child slaves.
As a tenacious saleswoman, Vivienne pledged to have the stand open every day, rain or shine - until she made her goal. Additionally, she chose not to "sell" the lemonade rather allow the customers to "pay what is in your heart." This model worked well. By 173rd day, she set up her stand in Times Square at the request of New York City Mayor Michael Bloomberg. That day she surpassed her goal and was able to write a check for $101,000 the non-profit organization Not for Sale.
After reaching her goal she continued her mission.
"I want to help free the 18 million children in slavery and keep them safe," said Vivienne.
What an inspiring young lady. Who would have thought so much wisdom and determination could come from someone her age.

Hi! I totally agree. My goal is discover content that can enrich the Steemit community! Thanks for reading/listening!
This is quite inspiring, especially for a child that young. You captured it aptly when you said:
Truth is that wisdom is often heard from the mouths of babes and sucklings. Only problem is that adults don't listen.
Thanks @justlibby for bringing this to the limelight.
Hi Sunny! Thank you for reading my motivational post! I love how authentic children are. They really say what they feel and go for it. As adults our ego tends to get in the way!
Have a good one! :)
