MARKETING: The Consumer Buying Process | Boost Your Business Now

As a business you must understand the consumer buying process, consumers don’t just buy without considering other factors. In marketing studies has shown six(6) process consumer go through before buying a good or service, it’s good you consider this process so you can plan you marketing activities to align with these process and make things work well for your business.
The processes include:

  1. Problem recognition: This is the stage where the buyer recognizes a problem that needs to solve either with a good or service, say a buyer gets a visa to travel over sea, he or she can’t walk or drive there they now have a transportation problem, which they need the service of an air line.
  2. Information search: This is the stage where the buyer tries to find out information on how he can solve the just recognized problem he or she wants to solve, following our example above the buyer needs the service of an air line to travel over sea.
  3. Evaluating alternatives: This is the stage where the buyer take a close look at different companies that over solution to his need and select the one of his preference, following our example, the person who wants to travel over sea may look at the various air line to check for the best on the he or she see best.
  4. Purchase Decision: This is the stage where the buyer finally makes a decision from the various alternatives, he or she has been studying, following our example the buyer finally choose an air line.
  5. Purchase: This is the stage where the buyer actually and finally makes a purchase for the good or service, this stage is basically the “Eldorado” of marketers because it’s what brings in revenue to the business, follow our example the buyer finally buys an air ticket to travel from the air line he or she has chosen.
  6. Post-purchase evaluation: This is a very key stage in the buying process especially in respect to repeat sales. This is the stage where the buyer evaluate the product or service he or she has bought to satisfy a need or want, and for you the make a repeat sale and grow your business you and to make sure you have an excellent score from the buyer.
