It is a South Asian mixed rice dish with its origin among the Muslim of India & Pakistan. It is the most popular dish throughout the subcontinent. It is generally made with spices, rice and meat.
It is the food that lives in our dreams, on our minds and in our hearts. The soft, succulent chicken pieces with those warm and fragrant grains of rice.

The word Biryani is an Urdu word derived from the Persian language. One theory is that it originates from Birinj, the Persian word for rice. Another theory is that it derives from Biryan or Beriyan.

For us Pakistanis Biryani is not just a rice dish, No it’s an integral part of our day to day lives, a reward for when we overcome a struggle, a lifestyle choice, a bridge to relationships, a hope for a better future.

Depending on the region and the condiments available and popular in that region, there are different varieties of Biryani. The variety often takes the name of the region like Sindhi Biryani developed in the Sindh region in Pakistan and Hyderabadi Biryani developed in the city of Hyderabad in South India.

Ingredients vary according to the type of meat used and the region the Biryani is from. Meat (of either chicken or mutton) is the prime ingredient with rice.

The spices and condiments used in Biryani may include ghee (clarified butter), nutmeg, mace, pepper, cloves, cardamom, cinnamon, bay leaves, coriander, mint leaves, ginger, onions, tomatoes, and garlic. The premium varieties include saffron. In all Biryani, the main ingredient that accompanies the spices is the chicken and mutton; special varieties also use beef and seafood. The dish may be served with Dahi , Chutney or Raita and Salad.

Biryani is the most common dish in Pakistan. It is usually served in every other event. Biryani is not just the food for youth.
Biryani is national love. Its loved to the point of it being sacred.
