How Great is Dirk Nowitzki?
Every sports fan overrates their favorite players in any way. That’s just part of the experience. You even try to convince the other fans of how great your pick is.
Ok, let's talk about a certain player in NBA who is great and yet only a few people know of his greatness. If I ask you to name some of the great players in the NBA. Then, Lebron, Duncan, KD, Rose, Wade, Curry, Harden and even Kobe would be there. Well, maybe some of you here think that Dirk Nowitzki belongs to this group.
If some of you here do not know how good Nowitzki is, then would you believe me if I say " Nowitzki beat all the players above"? Yes, you heard me right. He beat all those great players and won his first NBA championship last 2011 without a superteam.
His NBA career has accumulated the statistics of an all-time great, yet he has never been considered one of them.
Dirk Nowitzki’s 21 seasons with the Dallas Mavericks shows his transformational skillset, one of the most unguardable shots the game has seen is his fadeaway. The big man who shoots gracefully we have ever seen, with his height he can get his shot over any defender. Be it a jumper or his one-legged fadeaway. He is a master of fakes that get his defender off-balance. He is a great teammate and is excellent at seeing the floor and getting out of the double-team.
He showed the NBA, being a power forward does not have to be powerful to win. He entered the league at a time when only eccentrics and outliers like Walker and Perkins shot more than a couple of three per game from that position.
Nowitzki has influenced many shooters in the league. When he invented the one-legged step-back jumper. We can see that Kevin Durant scores a lot using fadeaways, it is after mastering Nowitzki's step-backs against shorter defenders.

His 2011 Finals MVP performance will forever define him as a great player. He went against LeBron and Dwyane Wade and was considered the MVP. He killed the Heat with an array of one-legged fadeaways, step-backs, and rim attacks. Many have tried to stop him but still failed.
The great basketball player has made his retirement last season.
"As you might expect, this is my last home game, this is super, super emotional. Just too many people to thank. I put you guys on a helluva ride with a lot of ups and downs, and you guys always stuck with me and supported me, so I appreciate it."
after 25 years of his NBA career, the journey of Dirk Nowitzki has ended but for some people, he will forever be one of the greatest.
