The elephant is a large mammal of the familia Elephantidae and the Proboscidea order. 
Traditionally, there are two recognized species, the African elephant (Loxodonta africana) and the elephant maximus (Elephas maximus), Elephants are spread throughout sub-Saharan Africa, South Asia, and Southeast Asia.
