Obesity: the new terrible disease

in #food7 years ago

With nearly 1.4 billion people overweight over 20, obesity has become a nearly global pandemic that requires specific and urgent measures. This is the categorical opinion of health and nutrition experts exposed to participants at Davos World Economic Forum.
Worldwide, the number of cases of obesity has doubled since 1980, alarmed by the World Health Organization (WHO). Overweight is 1.4 billion people on the planet over 20 years of age.

Overweight and obesity are the fifth risk factor for human life at world level. Due to obesity, at least 2.8 million adults die each year. In addition, overweight and obesity, a result of an energy imbalance between calories consumed and consumed, cause an increase in diabetes, which increases the risk of cardiovascular disease, experts say.

If things continue this way in 20 years, between 50 and 60 percent of the adult population on the planet may be overweight. Over 43 million children under the age of 5 are overweight, the WHO said, stressing that childhood obesity leads to an increased risk of premature death and disability in adulthood.

According to experts, criticism should be stopped only for obese people and attention to living conditions, as obesity is related to the "immobilization crisis" - a result of the growing urbanization in the world. While overweight and obesity have in the past been considered to be high-income countries, they are now spreading widely in low- and middle-income countries, mainly in the urban environment.

Experts urged politicians to change their views radically. According to them, it is necessary to subsidize the production of low-calorie foods. There is also a need to develop a policy to promote the physical activity of children at school and at home.
