REMEMBERING THE MUNICH TRAGEDY
HELLO!! steemitians
Being a Manchester United fan, i watched the team take on Huddersfield town on Saturday which was the closest home game to the anniversary of the tragic air crash in Munich.
A crash that saw 23 people lose their lives, with the dead consisting of 8 Manchester United players, 3 club officials. many others also suffered serious injuries on that February day.
Today made it 60 years since the tragedy and the club will be holding a service inside the ground and there will be a minute silence at 15:04 GMT, the precise time of the crash.
Ahead of the game, against Huddersfield, a minute silence was impeccably observed by those inside the stadium and the players wore black armbands.
those who filed through the turnstiles were given a commemorative book and pin as the club ,quit rightly paid homage to those who died.
I was overcame by emotion as i watched on with other viewers at on of the viewing centers in our University.
and i am hoping that those books and pins are cherished and are not offered for sale on e-bay; because those who gave their lives for the great club Manchester United and for the football world in general deserves better .
FOR THOSE WHO LOST THEIR LIVES, I SAY R.I.P
