did anyone watch the money in the bank wwe last night it was not the greatest of shows but here are the results from lastnights payperview The Hype Bros def. The Colons (Kickoff Match) ST. LOUIS — The “Return of the Zack” lived up to the hype and then some.

In their first match as a team in half a year, The Ultimate Broski & Mojo Rawley proved they hadn’t lost a step when they reteamed as The Hype Bros to defeat The Colons at WWE Money in the Bank Kickoff. Despite, on paper, being slight of underdogs heading into the contest — Ryder had been on the shelf for six months and Mojo was mired in a self-admitted slump — the reunited Hype Bros triumphed While those two factors did indeed give The Colons an extra dose of confidence, Ryder more than held his own once the bell rang, and teed Mojo up for a supercharged run against Primo. The former WWE Tag Team Champion seemed both overwhelmed by Rawley’s imperviousness to pain and offended by the assertion that he was not, in fact, hype.

An opportunistic attack on Long Island Iced-Z’s surgically repaired knee put The Colons back in the driver’s seat, while Ryder tried in vain to mount a one-legged offense. When he finally taggecd in Rawley, however, all bets were off. The former NFL standout plastered Primo with the Hyperdrive, Ryder battled through the pain to obliterate an interfering Epico with the Broski Boot, and Mojo ceded the floor to Ryder for the decisive pinfall following the Hype Ryder

Carmella stole the Women’s Money in the Bank Ladder Match
Although Carmella has been crowned the first-ever Ms. Money in the Bank, James Ellsworth’s involvement in The Princess of Staten Island’s victory left the historic bout shrouded in controversy.

Up until the fateful interference that already has SmackDown General Manager Daniel Bryan calling foul, the bout was every bit the glass-ceiling shattering (and bone) shattering affair it had been touted as. The polished, scientific in-ring prowess of Superstars like Charlotte Flair, Becky Lynch and Natalya went out the window in favor of demolition-derby aggression, as everyone in the match worked to subdue the dominant Tamina, who obliterated all four of her opponents with ladders and superkicks within moments of the opening bell and snuffed out the first tug-of-war over the briefcase – between Charlotte and Carmella – by shoving them both off the ladder. In fact, Tamina played the role of spoiler for almost the entire battle, resurfacing each time she appeared taken care of, and constantly throwing a wrench into her opponents’ paths to the contract. Charlotte seemed to do the most damage against her after administering a pair of spears to Tamina before wiping her and Natalya out with a twisting round-off to the outside, but The Queen's attack took herself out in the process. That left Carmella and Becky Lynch — the very vocal crowd favorite — to tussle over the briefcase, and that’s when Ellsworth made his move. After The Irish Lass Kicker powerbombed Carmella off the ladder, Ellsworth tipped the piece of hardware over and sent the inaugural SmackDown Women’s Champion tumbling out of the ring. Ellsworth furiously tried to rally Carmella up the ladder, but The Princess of Staten Island was non-responsive.

You could practically see the lightbulb go off over Ellsworth’s head and, as the St. Louis crowd roared its disapproval, he ascended the ladder himself, seized the contract and nonchalantly tossed it down to Carmella. Once she caught it, the bell rang, and she officially — but controversially — became the first-ever Ms. Money in the Bank. A far from F-A-B-U-L-O-U-S way to win, to be sure, but a win it was, nonetheless.

The New Day def. SmackDown Tag Team Champions The Usos via Count-out

The Usos retained the SmackDown Tag Team Championship at WWE Money in the Bank, but something fishy went down inside “The Uso Penitentiary” to ensure the twins kept their hardware.

In hindsight, perhaps The Usos were underestimating The New Day, or perhaps they were looking at them more as the previous iterations they had tussled with in the past. The brothers promptly singled out Kofi Kingston as the weak link of the challengers, subjecting him to a two-on-one attack that left The Dreadlocked Dynamo grasping for salvation and later locking his surgically-repaired knee in the Tequila Sunrise And yet, New Day persisted. The Usos hung tough, of course, at one point breaking up a pinfall a millisecond from the count of three following a Big Ending. Possibly sensing that ya boys were hotter on their heels than they would have preferred, Jimmy & Jey decided to straight-up leave, ditching New Day in the ring and taking a count-out loss, thereby assuring the SmackDown Tag Team Titles remained in their hands

SmackDown Women’s Champion Naomi def. Lana
Naomi is still the SmackDown Women’s Champion. Barely.

Lana took Naomi to the absolute limit in what was, in increasing order of remarkableness, 1) her first match as a SmackDown LIVE Superstar, 2) her first title challenge as a blue brand Superstar, 3) her first title opportunity of any kind, and 4) her first singles match of any kind. Given that SmackDown LIVE Commissioner Shane McMahon sanctioned the championship match Naomi's request, it’s safe to say the champion thought The Ravishing Russian wouldn’t pose that much of a threat. She was wrong. And that’s before we even get into what happened with Carmella. Naomi did, indeed, run roughshod over her No. 1 contender in the early goings of the match, but Lana came more prepared than anybody likely thought. Lana trapped Naomi’s knee in the ropes to weaken it, then kicked the champion square in the face, putting Naomi in a predicament from which she almost didn’t recover. The Ravishing Russian’s assault on her opponent’s knee was relentless, so Naomi was forced to go to her hands to rally. She locked Lana in an armbar when The Ravishing Russian took the match to the mat and administered the Rear View, but Lana countered with a Sit-out Spinebuster. And then Carmella’s music hit The Princess of Staten Island and newly-minted Ms. Money in the Bank skipped down to the ring and teased a cash-in for what felt like an eternity, but pulled back at the last second. The Ravishing Russian went to hit a second Sit-out Spinebuster, but Naomi countered, sunset-flipping her way into her signature hold, the FTG (that's Feel the Glow, as she explained on Talking Smack), and submitted Lana to retain the title.

Carmella once again looked ready to cash in, but she decided against it, though The Princess of Staten Island made it clear to Naomi that the second she was ready, she’d come calling again. Naomi, for her part, told her to bring it. Having survived a challenger nobody saw coming, the champion is clearly ready for anything

WWE Champion Jinder Mahal def. Randy Orton
It was when Mahal attempted to mock “Cowboy” Bob at ringside with a superplex, however, that Orton found his fury once again. The Viper freed himself to administer his father’s signature move, and moments later, got the better of Mahal in a forearm-uppercut exchange before hitting him with the hanging DDT. Finally in his groove, Orton landed the RKO … and The Singh Brothers saved Mahal again, placing The Maharaja’s foot on the rope in a blatant attempt to get him disqualified. Orton would have none of it.

The Apex Predator petitioned — successfully — to stop referee Mike Chioda from throwing out the match. Chioda ejected The Singh Brothers instead, but Sunil & Samir’s threatening of “Cowboy” Bob at ringside landed them in Orton’s warpath. Yes, Samir got backdropped onto the commentary table again, and no, Orton didn’t seem to feel remotely bad about it this time. Sunil also caught an RKO on the floor; Samir took one through the table. Thanks to The Singh Brothers’ persistent meddling, Mahal again had time to recover. And once more, The Maharaja was ready when Orton turned his attention back to him. The Viper wandered straight into the path of the Khallas, and Mahal retained his WWE Title. The upshot of all this? It doesn’t matter whose house Mahal is in, whose father is at ringside or what the WWE Universe chants: The era of The Modern-Day Maharaja is here, and it is here to stay

Breezango def. The Ascension
The mystery of who trashed Breezango’s office and attacked Tyler Breeze has loomed large over SmackDown LIVE, but The Fashion Police caught their first break in the case when the supposed perpetrators left a VHS message in their office to claim responsibility and challenge Breezango to a match later in the night
The self-proclaimed vandals turned out to be The Ascension, and justice was swift. Despite suffering the combined might of Konnor & Viktor for minutes on end, Prince Pretty gritted his way to the ropes and tagged in Fandango, who unleashed a barrage of chops on The Ascension before the big men brawled their way back into the fight. Breeze thwarted an attempted interference from Konnor, and ‘Dango struck with a rollup to Viktor, thereby putting The Ascension’s hopes — and, possibly, the crime of the century — to rest

Baron Corbin won the 2017 Money in the Bank contract
The new Mr. Money in the Bank is not "Phenomenal." He is not an underdog from an underground, nor is he the “New Face” of anything. He’s not known as an artist, and he is certainly not a repeat victor with a penchant for stealing the show. He is a lean, mean, big bad wolf who is here to hurt everyone he can and make a lot of money — figurative or otherwise — doing it. He is Baron Corbin.

The Lone Wolf made his presence known before the bell even rang on his career-defining win when he ambushed Shinsuke Nakamura during The Rockstar’s entrance and bashed him over the spine with a camera, forcing WWE officials to carry The King of Strong Style to the back and start the match with only Corbin, Kevin Owens, AJ Styles, Sami Zayn and Dolph Ziggler
What ensued was an every-man-for-himself melee; each Superstar alternately powered his way to the advantage before one intrepid soul hit them with a haymaker.

There was Owens annihilating everyone in sight with a ladder … until Zayn tossed him so emphatically onto said ladder that it crumpled. There was Zayn battling through Ziggler to get within arm’s length of the contract … until Corbin smashed him headfirst into the ladder he was trying to summit. There was Ziggler literally climbing over Corbin to make a play for the briefcase, Zig Zagging him off the rungs and fighting his way through Styles to scale the steel … until Zayn sunset-flipped over him and powerbombed him down to the canvas.

There was Zayn again, suplexing Owens onto the apron, only to eat a Phenomenal Forearm that toppled both him and the ladder he was halfway up. There was Zayn … again, Helluva Kicking Corbin, only to eat a boot to the groin from Owens. There was Styles, finally grabbing control of the briefcase handle … only for Ziggler to kick the ladder out from under him and send him falling to the mat. There was Corbin, taking advantage of the decimated field to climb the ladder … until Shinsuke Nakamura stunningly returned to the match with payback on his mind With the WWE Universe chanting his theme song, The King of Strong Style administered kicks and knees to everyone who wandered into his path, culminating with Kinshasas to Ziggler, Zayn and Owens. When Nakamura found himself grabbing hold of the ladder at the same time as Styles, they simultaneously moved it out of the way and hammered each other with forearms, with AJ claiming the upper hand after hitting one of the Phenomenal variety.

And then, finally, there were the two world-traveled warriors scaling the ladder to trade punches with the briefcase hanging just out of reach … until Baron Corbin shoved them both off the ladder and grabbed the contract for himself. And as he was quick to point out on Talking Smack, for anyone who holds or aspires to hold the WWE Championship, their end of days may be closer than they think.
