Do your abs disappear after training or look “fluffy”? Blame it on cortisol from excess training.

Cortisol increases a hormone called aldosterone. This hormone has the important job of regulating water, electrolytes in your blood, and your blood pressure.

When you’re over stressed, aldosterone sends a message to your kidneys to retain sodium, so your body retains as much fluid as possible.

Fluid retention can even creep up after stressful emotional triggers over the course of the day.

It can also lead to the appearance of cellulite in areas like the thighs, because the high levels of sodium there is pulling more water to those areas.

Frustratingly, this water retention can make you feel like you’ve gained weight, even though it is all fluid.
Are you up several times during the night to use the toilet? This because it’s the first time in the day when you’re not stressed, so your body feels safe & relaxed and starts to release some of the retained fluid.

I know it sounds like hippie bulls*it, but managing your stress is IMPORTANT, particularly if you want to lose weight.
