Costa Rica And Its Amazing Wildlife

in #travel7 years ago (edited)

Costa Rica is one of the 20 countries with the highest biodiversity in the world. 500,000 species are living in Costa Rica, this is almost 4% of the total species worldwide. Nearly two third of it are insects though. We have seen the most amazing birds, monkeys, reptiles and other animals in Costa Rica.

Let us show you what species we’ve seen and of course where in Costa Rica we’ve seen them.

Samara on the southwest coast of Costa Rica

Samara is a small beach town along the southwest coast. A beautiful place to just relax and chill. You can hear howler monkeys while watching the sunset on the beach.

Volcano park Rincon de la Vieja

Rincon de la Vieja is a beautiful Volcano Park where you can hike and see some stunning scenery. Unfortunately we couldn’t take any photo’s of the snakes we saw.

Costa Rica’s greenest lush forest in Monteverde

Monteverde honours its name for being so green. Besides hiking, enjoying lush forest, spotting birds, howler monkeys and sloths, we did an amazing zipline adventure.

Picture perfect volcano and Lake Arenal

Arenal is not only a nice town to visit because of Lake Arenal and the Arenal volcano, but also to see cool rainbow trees. And of course, plentiful lizards, monkeys and birds.

Costa Rica’s amazing wildlife in Tortuguero

But nothing tops the wildlife we’ve seen in Tortuguero. You can only reach this part of Costa Rica by boat. Thus there are no cars on this land which makes the little town wonderful.

We really recommend getting up early one day and pay for a boat and guide. Because a good guide can point out all the beautiful wildlife that you probably couldn’t spot yourself. So what did we see? Check the pictures below.

We enjoyed this private boat tour quite a lot thanks to our guide and all the wildlife he could point out. It’s worth to set your alarm.

Reggae town Cahuita at the Caribbean sea

Cahuita is kinda like a reggae town, very relaxing and has the most beautiful beach. Not in a lying-on-the-beach sense but in a nature way. This truly is where the jungle meets the beach. We recommend walking the path right next to the ocean where you can see snakes, spiders, monkeys, frogs and sloths. And you will see remarkable white sand with palm trees hanging over the sand and touching the water.

Watch your backpack for Capuchin monkeys. They will try to get in your backpack and take whatever they think they can eat!

Costa Rica is a beautiful country. Not only for their wildlife but also for their nature. It’s stunning mountains, truly green forests, white sand beaches, beautiful coast line and lack of too many tourists will guarantee an amazing trip.
