Hollywood box-office November 2017 report card: Thor Ragnarok, Justice League, Coco, who won?

in #please6 years ago

For a November, this month was unusually high in terms of the number of big releases. Studios like Warner Bros, 20th Century Fox and Walt Disney Studios released some of the most anticipated films of the year, including the two biggest superhero films. From Walt Disney Studios' Thor Ragnarok and Coco to Warner Bros' Justice League to 20th Century Fox's Murder on the Orient Express, this month was closely followed by film industry trackers and generated much interest among fans. Let us see how the five major films that released this month fared at the box office.

Thor: Ragnarok: This film was much awaited not because it was the third iteration in the Thor franchise, but viewers sensed a radical tonal shift in the trailers. The first two films were marred by too self-serious tone, especially the second film - Thor: Dark World being criticised for having a weak and uninteresting villain. Taika Watiti changed that with Thor: Ragnarok and moviegoers came in droves to see the film. At the time of writing, this Chris Hemsworth film has earned 790 million dollars worldwide out of which, an impressive 277 million dollars have come from domestic markets.

Justice League: The first flagship film in DC Extended Universe, Justice League received mixed reviews. Made on an incredibly hefty budget of 350 million dollars, it is not clear if the film will be able earn much profit. As of now, Justice League seems to be doing better and has accumulated 481 million dollars worldwide, with 171 million dollar domestic earnings.

Sort:

Both movies were awesome. I will admit that Justice League had its problems, but I'm really excited to see where it goes from here!
