The inspiration for Steem Saturday.

Steem Saturday is inspired by other tech Saturday events held around the world.

Microsoft communities are very active communities that very regularly host such events.

I have attended the Microsoft events for both MS SQL and MS SharePoint.

Below are pictures from the MS SharePoint event this last Saturday.

Arriving at Microsoft head office Johannesburg South Africa.

After registration the obligatory sponsor area and general pre-sessions socializing.

The starting keynote and one of the larger areas where talks will be given throughout the day.

All 250 seats were filled and later many were standing during the combined keynote
543 people registered for the event
This made it the 4th largest SharePoint Saturday event worldwide
14 Sponsors saw to it that costs were covered
Microsoft SA provided the venue

You may notice in the above picture we are still in a drought cycle since last year.

The lawn is very parched. We should have had our first rains already and it should be green.

Irrigation would be an option but currently Johannesburg is under water restrictions due to the drought.

As little water as possible should be utilized to conserve water in the catchment area dams so that if the drought persists through this year there will still be enough for drinking and other household use.
