Whether you call it a Stag Party, a Bachelor Party, a Bucks Party, or some other similarly descriptive name, if one of your friends is getting married then you’ll be obliged to embark on some sort of expedition to revel in their last few days of single life and celebrate their impending wedding.

Of course this could be as civilised as an afternoon doing some wine tasting, or a round of golf somewhere nice, but quite often it is the perfect excuse to get all of your mates together and head away for a weekend of fun and perhaps a little debauchery.

Your destination of choice is going to be greatly influenced by your location — by its nature, the Stag Party is generally at most a weekend away — you need somewhere that is easy to get to but still offers everything that you’re looking for.

In this article we are going to focus on some of the European destinations that are currently top of our list whenever we need to brainstorm potential Stag Party locations.

Munich

This is a beautiful city with a lot to recommend it at any time of year, but try and coincide your Stag Party with its annual Oktoberfest beer festival in September. You all get to dress up in Lederhosen, drink, and sing songs. You can’t ask for more than that.

Reykjavik

During the summer months, the sun really doesn’t set in Reykjavik. As a consequence, the local population goes a bit mad and seems to be out on the streets drinking at all hours. There’s a lot to do and see in Iceland — you’ll be surprised at how good this place is.

Copenhagen

Contrary perhaps to their cool and sophisticated demeanour, the Danish really know how to have a good time. You don’t have to pay a fortune for dinner at the world’s best restaurant (although Noma is an amazing experience and totally worth it if you can get a table), there are a heap of great restaurants, bars, and clubs in the city. Try and time your visit with the annual Distortion festival (August) for non-stop street parties.

Barcelona

A city on the beach. Sorted. Barcelona’s bars and clubs don’t start until late and don’t finish until very very late, so match your late nights with spending your days recovering on the beach — the perfect combination.

Porto

Porto has a lot to recommend it — you can wander the streets and soak in the amazing history of the city, you can do a lot of port wine tasting, and you can kick back and enjoy the city’s nightlife. The small bars of the Baixa region are the best place to start your night.

The decision to get married is a big one. When your friend is planning their wedding and planning to share the rest of their life with their special someone it’s a momentous occasion. Make sure that you do your bit and plan a kick-ass Bachelor Party to see them off in style.

I'm missing Benidorm in this list. I keep seeing English hen and stag parties every weekend.
