Bekraf holds open-air cinema at Sail Sabang 2017

One of the interesting gimmicks featured at the Sail Sabang 2017 is bioskop misbar (open-air cinema) that is located in Sabang Fair arena and runs from Nov. 29 until Dec. 4.
The cinema is initiated by the Creative Economy Agency (Bekraf).
The cinema can accommodate up to 120 people and the venue is facing the Indian Ocean.
“Bioskop misbar is held to fulfill the creative needs from communities and Sabang City Administration, especially for film and performing art sector. Another purpose is to serve as an attraction for Sail Sabang,” said Bekraf’s deputy of infrastructure Hari Santosa Sungkari.
After the movie screening, there is an art performance from Sabang Art Council (DKS) as well as dance and poem recitation performances.
Bekraf also screens astronomy-themed movies on Layar Kubah (Dome Screen) at SMAN 1 Sabang from Dec. 3 – 5 for students in grades four to six.
Then there is also going to be a TED X event on Dec. 3 and Learn X event on Dec. 4.
Tourism Minister Arief Yahya praised the support from Bekraf to Sail Sabang 2017. He mentioned that creative industry and tourism industry are similar to each other.
“Film and tourism are very close, both are part of Indonesian creative economy and they are inseparable. Bekraf’s job is to develop the creative value up until the launching, once the product has commercial values and ready to compete, then it’s the Tourism Ministry’s job to promote it,” said Arief.
