STEEMCHURCH: The Fear Of God

Hello stemians, i will be sharing with you a new topic in #celestialchallenge initiated by @sirknight

We fear many bad things: Crime, auto accidents, devastating storms, West Nile virus, chemical weapons, mass murderers, terrorists, earthquakes but ask yourself Do You Fear God?

(Proverbs 1:7)"The fear of the LORD is the beginning of knowledge.”

we often use fear as a mere respect to God but is more than that,fearing God is good because it saves us from caving into our own sinful nature. That's why hearing someone is God fearing actually makes us trust that person more. If they fear God, they are more likely to keep their word and treat others with kindness. If you study the Bible, there is no mistaking the repeated commands to fear God.

(Roman's 3:18)says that our chief sin is that we "have no fear of God at all".

(1 john 4:18) that says that "perfect love expels all fear."

(psalm 34:11-13) “Come, you children, listen to me; I will teach you the fear of the LORD. … Keep your tongue from evil, and your lips from speaking deceit. Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it”

Consider this fascinating passage: “If You, LORD, should mark iniquities, O Lord, who could stand? But there is forgiveness with You, that You may be feared” (Psalm 130:3-4).

God’s offer of forgiveness to those who repent gives us a reason to fear a reason to change. It also gives us a reason to be eternally grateful and to grow in love to be more like our loving God
the ultimate example of fear and perfect love working together is Jesus Christ. He warned us at every turn to fear God, not men and he confirmed that in everything about his life and death. He spoke lovingly but frankly to all and didn't mince words when people needed to face their sin and repent. But he also demonstrated love beyond human understanding when he lived out his words,

"There is no greater love than to lay down one's life for one's friends (John 15:13)." With love like that, what is left to fear but God?
