Ethereum Hackers Make Off with $30m.....FISHY??
The bad news continued for Ethereum this week after it emerged yesterday that a further $30m worth of the crypto-currency had been stolen thanks to a critical bug in wallet software from provider Parity Technologies.
In a security alert on Wednesday, Parity refused to divulge the nature of the vulnerability.
Parity Technologies is proud to present our powerful new Parity Browser. Integrated directly into your Web browser, Parity is the fastest and most secure way of interacting with the Ethereum network. Information recorded on Etherscan.io revealed that a little over 150,000 ethers ($30m) were stolen in three separate batches.Parity CTO, Gavin York, also confirmed that three accounts had been compromised, adding that the initial security alert was delayed “to give the whitehats at the [Ethereum] foundation a chance to save the funds.”On social media, notable blockchain specialists are already weighing in on the situation, with Proof of Existence creator Manual Araoz suggesting that the compromised addresses could potentially belong to notable owners.
Overall, it's the latest security setback for an ethereum project in recent days, following a hack on CoinDash in which $10 million was stolen in an ICO earlier this week
Thats way too much money to go wrong! Bad news.
Yeah...Its crazy!
