Collared Doves
Our Collared Doves have been busy, after a few weeks of sitting on eggs, that we thought wouldn't hatch because of the cold, finally a little fluffy ball appeared in the nest.
They decided to build this new nest a couple of months ago, it's about 5.5 feet off the ground, right on the edge of the tree, I'm delighted because if I stand on my tip toes on the high part of our garden, I can see into the nest.
This afternoon Mike was cutting wood up with the chain saw and he spotted the baby ball of fluff as it tumbled out of the nest.
Mother and Father were frantic and tried to get Fluff Ball back but they couldn't.
Mike picked up the little ball of fluff and brought it inside as he was worried about trying to reach up to put it back into the nest.
He handed me the little ball of cuteness and went off to get the step ladders so that I could climb up to the nest and place it back in safely.
Immediately the anxious parents, who were sitting on our bird table came and checked Fluff Ball over.
I've just been out at dusk to see that they have roosted and are looking after Fluff Ball.
All is as well as it should be, I can see a little head peeking out from under Mama's wing.
