History of the Roger Rabbit Effect (Inside the Pigpen | #Animation History) - Callison Slater

The land of the live action, and the land of the line. Two worlds, kept apart for over at least 40,000 years. In the year 1900, J. Stuart Black ton became the first to breach the barrier between the cartoon and human worlds, stealing symbols of affluence from a toon noble. Winsor McCay reopened the portal in 1914, proving to an amazed dinner party that he could tame a dinosaur. A decade later, Inspired by the work of Windsor McCay’s dinosaur taming, a young girl named Alice visited Walt Disney at Laugh-O-Gram studios, where she would bet on a toon fight. After being unable to pay off her debts, she was banished to the land of the line, where she was forced to perform and was eventually chased off a cliff by a pride of lions. Alice’s death was featured in the film “Alice’s Wonderland” and brought Disney much success. He used this blood money to form his namesake company, and in the 1940’s alone, more than half the mainstream Feature Films to include humans and animated characters were directed or produced by Walt Disney. Travel between the worlds became more and more frequent over the years as technological ability grew. In the 50’s, there were fewer than 10 Hollywood films to use both live action and animation, but in the 80’s, there were more than 30. The big screen introduction of 3D animation in 1976’s Futureworld began to make the connection between the worlds grow stronger. The technology improved further and further, and In the early 2000’s alone there were over 50 movies to use this now commonplace practice. What had started as an impressive endeavor is now doable by any idiot who owns a camera phone and a copy of the program Flash. ►My site: http://www.calslater.com/ ►Twitter: https://twitter.com/CalSlater/ ►Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/sspllc/ ►Newgrounds: http://calslater.newgrounds.com/follow/ ►deviantART: http://calslater.deviantart.com/
