Reliance Jio Now presence it's new free service

Whole Story

Mumbai: Free fall of freebies continues from Reliance Jio stable. Days after giving you 4G phones at 'zero' cost, the company has decided to give 3 crore free WiFi connections across the country. For this the company has already presented a proposal to the government for the same.
After targeting the low income group with free 4G phone, Jio now is eyeing the lucrative market of the youngsters. With this is mind, the company has presented a proposal to the Human Resource Development (HRD) ministry to provide free Wi-Fi to three crore college students across the country. In the proposal, Jio has expressed interest to connect around 38,000 colleges (technical and non-technical)by deploying free Wi-Fi connectivity. All these colleges come under the HRD ministry.

This proposal may suit the HRD ministry, which has recently announced WiFi connectivity in 38 universities by August 31. Though Jio will bear the cost, HRD ministry is no hurry as it may give other telecom operators a fair chance by inviting counter offers.

"Through this free access to Wi-Fi, all students will be able to get internet connection and use educational resources such as online courses available on SWAYAM platform through the National Knowledge Network. The company plans to create hotspots for this,” a source was quoted as saying by the Hindustan Times.
