Youngers having diffrents taste on sex for some decades

in #sex7 years ago

Human culture is constantly evolving. Even our sexual practices are completely different now than they were a couple of decades ago. However, scientists from UCL were still surprised to find that people of today are having sex more often and in many different ways. In fact, sex of today may be the most varied of all time.

People nowadays tend to experiment with sex, but the age of first sexual experience remains virtually the same.
You may be wondering, how sex may be more varied. Scientists conducted a research back in 1990-1991. First of all they found that about one in ten women and men, aged 16-24, had vaginal, oral and anal sex during the last year. Now researchers repeated this study to detect if there are any changes. They found that vaginal intercourse and oral sex remained the most common types of sex, but in 2010-2012 one in four men and one in five women answered positively to the same question. However, such sexual practices as anal and oral sex increased in number significantly among those aged 16-18.

This is not only interesting, but also has large implications for public health – young people have to be informed better and sexual education must be up to date with current practices. Dr Ruth Lewis, lead author of the study, said that this “study highlights the need for accurate sex and relationships education that provides opportunities to discuss consent and safety in relation to a range of sexual practices. This will equip young people with the information and skills they need to maximise their wellbeing from the outset of their sexual lives”. Interestingly, while the variety of sexual practices has increased, the age of first sexual encounters remained relatively the same.

Reported age of the first heterosexual experience is 14 and the median age of the first sexual intercourse is around 16. Heterosexual experience is defined as anything even remotely sexual between two people of opposite sexes, such as kissing. However, scientists are not quick to made conclusions based on these findings as they do have some problems.

Firstly, people tend to alter their answers to comply with current social norms. Sexual experiences now are viewed as a part of social status and people don’t want to be excluded from the majority. This is especially true with younger people, who were the subject of this research. However, regardless of how accurate this data is, education institutions will have to change some sexual education programs to match the ever changing sexual practices and to help young people protect their health.
