Their first meeting was in the 2012 challenge played in Tallahassee, as FSU won 83-69 behind 28 points (11-of-15) from 2016 Spanish Olympic Silver Medalist Leonor Rodriguez.Florida State participates in its 11th Big Ten/ACC Challenge. The Seminoles are tied with Duke for the best record among current ACC schools in the challenge, boasting an 8-2 record.The Seminoles have won five Big Ten/ACC Challenge matchups in a row, the longest active win streak by any current ACC or Big Ten school. Those wins include defeating Iowa at home in 2012 (83-69), then-No. 25 Michigan State at home in 2013 (60-58), Purdue on the road in 2014 (67-64 OT), Rutgers at home in 2015 (65-43) and Minnesota last season on the road (75-61).Following FSU’s game on Wednesday, it will travel to James Madison over the weekend for a 2 p.m. tip-off on Sunday, Dec. 3. The matchup is the return game of a home-and-home that began last season when FSU won in Tallahassee 84-64 on Nov. 20.PRE-GAME NOTES: • The ACC owns a 7-0-3 record against the Big Ten in the annual conference challenge, including a 9-5 win in last year’s challenge. Overall, the ACC has a 71-51 edge in the challenge games played to date. • The Seminoles play on the road in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge for the second consecutive year after defeating Minnesota in 2016 by a 75-61 score. In that matchup, current sophomore guard Nicki Ekhomu had a career performance with a team-high 16 points on 6-of-6 shooting. • Former All-Big Ten performer and Illinois transfer Chatrice White has played twice against Iowa. Over her two games against the Hawkeyes, she averaged 25.5 points, 8.5 rebounds and shot 50 percent (20-of-40) from the floor. In her lone trip to Iowa on Feb. 27, 2016, the Hawkeyes defeated Illinois 61-56 but White totaled 29 points and 11 rebounds for one of her 32 career double-doubles (24 at Illinois; 8 at FSU). • In the Big Ten/ACC Challenge, Florida State is also 4-1 on the road. Its last loss in the annual conference competition came at Ohio State in 2011, falling 78-75 in overtime. • The Seminoles have five players averaging 6+ rebounds in Chatrice White (9.3), Nicki Ekhomu (8.2), Shakayla Thomas (7.3), Ama Degbeon (6.7) and Nausia Woolfolk (6.0). FSU’s +21.7 rebound margin ranks first nationally. • Head Coach Sue Semrau is 26-18 against the current group of schools in the Big Ten Conference. Her best record is 4-0 against Indiana. • A win over Iowa on Wednesday would give the Seminoles their fourth 7-0 start in program history and their first since 2012-13. In 2004-05, FSU started 12-0.
