New Passport rules for Indian Passport.
The ministry of External Affairs India has just announced a new set of rules for applying a Passport.
I have summarised the points below for you guys to check it out.
- Documentation for The Proof of Birth
Earlier it was mandatory for people interested to make a passport to submit their Birth certificate as proof of Birth but due to the change of rules you can apply for a passport with these documents--
Birth Certificate
Aadhar Card
PAN Card
School Leaving Certificate
Driving License
Voter I Card
Policy Bond issued By Public Life Insurance
Details of Parental/Legal Guardian
Earlier it was mandatory to give both the names of parents for Passport approvals but with the recent changes in rules you can provide only one name of your parents or you can also provide the name of your legal guardian. This makes it easier for Children's with single parents to apply for a Passport.
Annexes
The total number of annexes has been bought down from 15 to 9. Annexes A, C, D, E, J, and K have been removed and some of them have also been merged. Lesser annexes means less trouble for you to collate documentation.
Attestation
Previously all the Annexes were to be attested by a Notary/Executive Magistrate/ First Class Judicial Magistrate but now you can just provide the Annexes with self attested Documents.
Marriage/Divorced Persons
Previously you had to provide your spouse's name for further verification but now this has been revoked, you no longer need to provide the name of your Spouse.
These are the major changes which have been implemented by the Government of India on the matter of Passport Issues.
I think the process has become much less hassle compared to earlier when we had to run from one office to another for days in order to only apply for Passport.
