This Swiss people are serious about Cryptos as Zug will be the first city in the world to have a digital identity for their citizens!

Starting in September 2017 the city of Zug will be the first city in the world to allow it's citizens to create a digital identity. The first use case that they are looking to achieve is e-Voting.
From a technological perspective they are using uPort from Consensys based on the Ethereum Blockchain. Wow!

Regulatory Oversight
One of the most essential supporters of fintech startups in Zug is the Swiss Financial Market Supervisory Authority (FINMA). As a regulatory authority, FINMA could easily promote or obstruct the growth of businesses working with emerging financial technology, like blockchain-based distributed ledgers.
Switzerland’s Federal Council, the country’s head executive office, called for an easing of regulatory frameworks regarding financial technology at a November 2, 2016 meeting, in order to reduce barriers to market entry for fintech companies.
As part of the Swiss government’s pro-innovation push, FINMA defined its strategic goals for 2017-2020, setting its priorities on proper business conduct, and approaching supervision and regulation in a way that should encourage emerging technologies.

Digital ID = goodbye to anonymity. No?
Hey @herverisson, let me clarify the space about anonymity and privacy.
This identity is based on an App that secures the personal data using Blockchain-Technology and links it to a Crypto-Address. The residents register their identity using the App independently and it is then certified by the local administration. The city of Zug will also use this period until September to collect experiences with Blockchain-Apps and it plans to carry out with its citizens an "e-Voting" ballot vote presumably in Spring 2018.
I'm certain there have been numerical identities assigned to people before the USA came up with Social Security Numbers, and those were implemented over 80 years ago.
With time we have to accept that owning a digital wallet has to be linked with the identity so on the security sides this service will be more reliable!

Interesting, you have really thought this through :) I have no problem with setting up a personal digital ID personnally but i guess it may come as a shock to the purists of the blockchain world.
